10 days for me until break. We go until 12/23 but we have an early dismissal that day. i will be off until Jan 2nd. We don't have anything planned for the break. I'm just looking forward to some family time. Dh will be home as well, since he is a school administrator.

Just a few more. Friday, then Monday and Tuesday next week. Those days ought to be a blast. Not.

Exciting? How's this? One of my students brought a knife to school last week. 3 inch lock-blade. That should get him a ticket out. It's probably wrong to say, but my class is SO much nicer without him. One of my unmedicated ADHD'ers, he was constantly talking, constantly walking around, opening the door, touching people and things, throwing crayons, drawing on his desk. He was the one I wrote about in a different post that was *too* touchy feely for my tastes.

Let me write this in my memoirs...my first knife.

Of course half of my class knew, and not one of them bothered to tell me.

Remember my psycho parent post with my little guy who had no regard for consequences? Well, he was the one who told. I guess the no regard for consequences is a double-edged sword. He promptly got punched in the head for his troubles by the offender. We advised the parents to file charges, and they did.

How do people get up and go to work in boring office buildings all day???

Those office people think we sit at a desk all day and watch the kids work quietly!

Sometimes it's sad to know we didn't make things better for the child, but it also helps to know things are better for everyone else.

Yeah! I bet you're watching the clock. Of course that last day is usually a killer. Is anyone thinking about education?

Enjoy your two weeks!

Happy holidays,

LOL! If only they knew. I swear I didn't even have time to pee today.

The child that was absent yesterday morning got in serious trouble today at PE. He punched another kid in the face and cut him under the eye so bad that he will probably need stitches. He was already on probation, so the cops picked him up and hauled him off to detention. He will probably be there until at least his court date.

Makes me sadbecause I could see the potential. And while he was a "picker" he was not a fighter.

Yep! I have 3 class periods (50 minutes each). My plans are to do origami (a whole 25 minutes of it???..lol), then have them help me rearrange my classroom set-up since I've had/will have some changes (I received a BIG screen with an InFocus projector on my ceiling, but my C.O.W. is being removed...I get my bulletin board back, but I lose a lot of wall space in which I have 7 posters and student work) and have them put up my new bulletin board.

4.5 days - we go right to the 23rd, but Friday will be a half teaching day. We have a staff Xmas breakfast in the AM and an assembly in the PM, with shortened classes in the middle.

Then, we're off for 2 weeks, coming back to work on Jan 9th.

Merry Christmas, everyone!
