Hung out with my kiddos today!

I've been out on Maternity leave for about 5 weeks. I go back to work 2 weeks from today. :(

Anyway, today my students had a big (all day) field trip to Denver, and I decided to tag along. It was a fun to see them and talk. DD stayed at home with Dad, and I got to be a teacher again....for just one day. LOL! The kids made me feel great, kept telling me how much they missed me, etc. I miss (most of) them too.

Not sure I'm ready to work full time yet, but I DID enjoy one day with them on a relaxed basis.

I know how you feel.I have been on meternity leave for a month now and go back in2 weeks. I went to school on hriday to try and report cards because it easier to do them than explain the system to a sub. I didn't get them all done and have to go in again tomorrow because I spent so much time with the kids. It makes you feel good to know that they miss you.

Barbara - I know what you mean about report cards. The week I go back full time is the week that report cards are due, and then we have conferences. I'll only have spent about 3 weeks of this quarter with my students. The rest of the time will be all based on the sub. Sigh. I'm hoping he and I can meet up and do the report cards and conferences together.

PS - been meaning to tell you on the Feb board that Elijah is a CUTIE!

Thank you. Eliana is adorable too.

I hope you and the sub will have time together to figure out the grades. I know that is going to be frustrating. I am lucky that I have a classroom assitant that knows my system and the kids so she will be a great help for me to figure out what went on while I was gone. I really like the sub I have in my room but I know that she is doing things differently than the plans I left. Not that I expected her to run the class exactly like I do but just trying to figure out how she graded assignments and what assignments she gave is not fun.

It's great you had the opportunity to reconnect and enjoy the day. If course you know that the single day is so much easier than returning full time. Do you have everything read to go back? Getting two ready in the mornings will be a big adjustment. At least your son is at an age where he can be a big help. Enjoy the last few days of your leave!
