We're all wonder what Florida did to anger the weather gods so much. I guess all you can do is batten down the hatches and stay under cover. Good luck. Maybe it will turn north and stay in the Atlantic.

And how much school have you missed and have to make up????

So far we've only missed 8 days. There are 2 possible alternatives I've heard.

1- the state might change the days required for FL. from 180 to 170...since most of Florida is in the same predicament.

2- They've given us 3 day grace...so..sofar we might just have to make up 5 days.

Just because the SCHOOL has been closed only 8 days you wouldn't BELIEVE how many days the students haven't come in!! The miss the day before we have off...and the day we are to come back. It's crazy!

I FEEL YOUR PAIN....

I think there's wayyyyy too much sunshine here and someone is really unhappy about it, so just throw a couple....oh, no maybe FOUR hurricanes at them and it'll squelch the sun.

Going out to buy water AGAIN.....

There is great discussion here about make up days. So far of the nine we've only been required to make up six. They are taking from our winter holiday, which has caused some outrage, but all in all being a former northerner I do understand. I remember as a kid missing weeks of school due to snow storms. We have to make it up somewhere. A kid was asking me about the law requiring students to attend so many school days within a year - it's that a state mandated number or a federal number set by the Department of Education. Anyone know where I can find information on this? I thought it was an interesting and valid question.
