Oh, Joanne - I am so sorry for your loss!!

You are in a similar position to a former colleague of mine - although her husband had retired from teaching a couple years before his heart attack - he was just waiting for her to finish up one more year so she could retire. She decided to teach an extra year, just so she wouldn't be adrift. She has since retired, and is enjoying her life, although she misses sharing her retirement activities with her DH.

It sounds like you have a good plan - hope your new position is a great fit for you. Best of luck -

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss. What a shock!

At least you have options and can make some informed choices. It sounds like you have found an interesting job. I hope you enjoy it.

Please accept my condolences. That must have been quite a shock. You sound so together for someone who has recently suffered such a terrible loss.

Good luck to you in your new position. You were lucky to find something in this awful economy.
