Some of you may know that my Masters Degree was in Adult Ed. and well I was watching a story about an older gentleman who learned to read at a very late age and it hit me, how many older adults are still out there with substandard reading and writing skills wanting to do something about it but too embarrassed to show up as someone's class or school.

So then I thought, I'm always trying to tutor the young,

If you do a search there are a lot of adult literacy grants and organizations. For DC I found the following:

A key function of the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), Adult and Family Education is to receive federal funds from the US Department of Education and local funds from the District of Columbia Government. OSSE, Adult and Family Education re-grants these funds to eligible organizations to provide adult and family education services to residents of the District of Columbia.

I'd research the possibility through the OSSE first and then look at other independent groups that also support literacy.

I'm doing well. Still looking for something outside of education where I can make a decent wage.

Hey Sherry,

Honestly, I'm going through a serious midlife crisis. I turned 40 and it all came crashing down on me. I'm not where I should be, starting over has been hard, I'm glad to be working again but I hate the position because I'm not a nurturer, I'm a teacher and there is a big difference.

I'm frustrated with my romantic life, hustling to get by and living in a new place all alone, my support system is not here and for the first time in my life I care.

I just feel lost like I'm not doing what I should be doing. I like living in DC, its not the place, I made the right choice to move. But because everyone seems to be making way more and doing way more here, I just feel the pressure to be doing more as well.

i want to change careers, you know this, have wanted to for years, just dont want to go back to school anymore. Just stuck, cant go forward, cant go back.
