I saw this article this morning on the Huffington Post's main page: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/16/mitch-daniels-censor_n_3607065.html
I don't even know what to say. Thoughts?

I'm surprised that it happened at such a large university but, I would imagine that that kind of stuff happens all the time at smaller universities. There are many universities that have a religious affiliation and I would imagine that they are encouraged to have the classes reflect those beliefs .
Hi, Guili. Mitch attempted the censorship when he was governor, before he was hired by Purdue. Many of the Purdue staff spoke against his hiring but most of the members of the board were appointed by Mitch when he was governor. There's been a lot of spin in many of the papers around the state as Mitch and his supporters try to defend Purdue's hiring of someone who has been shown to favor censorship and control of information in the university classroom.
One of the explanations or excuses they offer is that they were only talking about K-12 education. Huh? Many of his supporters have complained about liberal teachers trying to indoctrinate students to their point of view. Now trying to say that indoctrination and censorship are ok in the K-12 classroom as long as it supports their message and goals???? Mitch and Tony Bennett have done irreparable damage to education in Indiana in many other ways. This is not surprising or unexpected. Sadly it will blow over and everything will stay the same. He's in no danger unless something comes up to show he's tried something similar at Purdue.
