New Here.. Intro

I've posted once or twice in response to questions but never introduced myself or really participated in discussions. Last year, I was a regular sub at my son's school, typically working 2-3 days a week. I subbed for 1st-12th so I had the opportunity to work with a wide age range and because I subbed so often was considered a permanent, but floating, teacher.

This year, I have been invited back to teach 2 classrooms part-time, but as a full-time teacher. I will be teaching 2nd grade in the morning for language arts, reading, and math and the combined 4th-5th grade in the afternoon for directed learning which includes culture, social studies, and time for other subjects. Our school is organized so that we have individual grades in a class for the core subjects in the morning and then joint grades for other subjects in the afternoon. I was originally invited back to teach 4th and 5th in the afternoon because the primary teacher would be time sharing between two campuses; however, we lost one of our "pod" classes for 1st-3rd and ended up needing a 2nd grade teacher just for the mornings.

Anyway, I'm glad this group is around and am sure I will be picking yoru brains for help as the new school year kicks off and am learning to manage two classrooms, one as a secondary teacher.

Welcome, Jen! It sounds like you'll have a busy, challenging year. You'll really be changing gears each day, but it sounds fun.

Congrats on your "new" job! Definitely will be an exciting and challenging year for you this year! I'm teaching a 4/5 this year. I think your schedule sounds like a lot of fun-- albeit an interesting challenge ;)

Cute siggy too!

First, welcome to our board. Second, I have to say, YOOOOOWWW!!!

I couldn't split my time between elementary and secondary, I would go nuts. Kudos to you for having such strength to do it. You are a better teacher than me. I can admit that.

Your babies are beautiful by the way, love the pics. Feel free to ask us questions, vent, share your thoughts, musings, ideas whatever. Glad to have some new faces in the place.
