My oldest dd is working as a camp counselor this summer and wants to teach elem. school. She was working after care yesterday for kids who need extended care due to both parents working. Today she came home shaking her head. She told me the kids were so poorly behaved she had to speak to 4 parents. She was especially upset because she said she had a 10yo boy call another kid a "f***ing idiot" using the actual word. When she told his mom, she said "That's home language." My dd was in shock! She said to me "who's home?!" Can you imagine defending a 10yo speaking like that? Maybe we're old fashion here, but we don't swear regularly in front of the kids, even now that they're teenagers. I can't imagine finding it acceptable to let your 10yo use the f bomb.

Poor dd. She said she's having second thoughts about her career after working this summer. She's had this job for several yrs now, but this year the kids have been especially poorly behaved.

Ditto to what Sherry said. I have nothing left to offer.

Nothing that parents say or do surprises me any more.
