If you go into k-12 administration you won't have nearly as much time off. Most administrators I know work 12 months a year. They usually work until almost 5pm as well. As far as other things you can do,,, how about online teaching. many schools let you teach with just a MA. My dh currently teaches at an online college, part time. Even if you did it full time, you would be at home and could still be with your kids. Your other option is community college. They usually require only a MA to teach as well. Around here though they don't pay as well as k-12 schools.

If you want just as much time at home, scratch secondary principal off your list - there are many, many events that require administrators in the evening. While that varies from district to district, the good administrative teams (or even the ok ones) all have a presence at all concerts and PTA events, and put in at least a token appearance at

I am looking at elementary administration, if I go there, as I have only taught at that level.

I think you're right about daycare. I"m not sure the hours vs the time and expense are worth it in the long run.

I've thought about private school but don't know anything about how private schools work.
