I don't do a Question of the Week on here because I've learned that most teachers have too much on their plate to visit the board daily or even weekly to answer a question. QOTWs just

Okay I'll answer before I see what others have said, so there maybe some repeats:

Now that so many seem to be unemployed, underemployed or wanting to be unemployed should we change the name to Former Teachers' Circle? Nope we're teachers, it can stay the same.

What do you do for lunch at school? Pack, order out, eat cafeteria food (kid;s menu or teacher specials) or skip it to work? Well when I was a real teacher, I often brought my lunch and every now and then ate out. But when bumped down to an aide, I ordered out or ate school lunch, only brought lunch on occassion.

Will or would merit pay or evaluations based on test scores raise your level of effort or performance? I'll just kiss ass to the admins and cheat when possible. No more being honest, it doesnt work. Nothing works really but I figure I better learn to kiss ass and be fake so I can keep a job.

How can we arrange a Take of Politician to School Week?Thats a good idea, how can we. I'm down.

What's the most unneeded school supply that your students show up with each year? THOSE FOCCATA PLASTIC PENCIL BOXES. I HATE THEM WITH A PASSION. IF I HEAR ONE MORE CLICK I'M GONNA JUMP.

Is summer school a waste of time? FOR REAL RETENTION OF INFO AND LEARNING, YEAH. BUT FOR BABYSITTING PURPOSES AND FOR HONEST DECENT PARENTS WHO HAVE NO ONE ELSE TO WATCH THE CHILD DURING THE SUMMER, ITS NOT. PARENTS NEED THE HELP.

If you could wave a magic wand and have a new career tomorrow, what would it be?OWN MY OWN SCHOOL OR TRANSPORTATION SERVICE OR TRAVEL AGENCY.

What do you think of special programs to teach kids morals, ethics

you're correct maam. I didnt mean take them out the class room. I meant as a reinforcement for the lack of attenttion they receive in a regular classroom, create clubs and only allow teachers with expertise to teach them. Which we know wouldnt happen.

Express!! *I love that saying*

What do you do for lunch at school? Pack, order out, eat cafeteria food (kid;s menu or teacher specials) or skip it to work? I always pack lunch. I'm picky and I didn't even eat school lunch as a kid.

Will or would merit pay or evaluations based on test scores raise your level of effort or performance? It doesn't really apply to library classes

How can we arrange a Take of Politician to School Week? Sadly I don't think it would make a difference for some politicians.

What's the most unneeded school supply that your students show up with each year? For my library classes, I'm lucky if some of my kids even remember to bring pencils.

Here's my random thought? When will cuts to education end? How much more can they cut? Do citizens who vote down school budgets or politicians who cut aid to schools not see the disconnect when they all say America must compete in a global market on one hand, but on the other they keeping cutting and cutting school budgets? Where are these well educated people going to come from who have to compete in the global markets?

What I find so amazing about the cuts is that many of the people making the cuts rationalize them by saying that people are lazy and expect handouts, rely on the government to give them what they are unwilling to work for and don't deserve help because they won't help themselves. Even if you accept that there are
