Okay, here we are at the last day of summer school and these two little girls decide they are going to get into an arguement. As they are about to come to blows, I step in between them and send them to the director of the program. I say to them, I can just send them home because they are not going to come here and start a problem on the last day and think they can get away with it. So....

They go into his office and totally lie about the whole situation and then he says to them: TEACHERS CAN'T SUSPEND A STUDENT!! Didn't give me a chance to explain the situation, allowed the two students to lie their way out of trouble and embarass me in the process. I just had to walk away. An administrator is not supposed to contradict a teacher in front of a student. He was wrong and I am not going to forget it. I am just glad he won't be my immediate supervisor for the fall cause I would be looking for a new job. Sorry but that is a deal breaker when you are a teacher. These kids will do anything to you if they know the adminstration doesn't support their teachers.

OK, here's your hug! I know where you're coming from. I've worked under a collection of admins that act before they think and care more about making parents happy than supporting their teachers. They do so much damage, but never realize it becasue they are too busy being worried about their PR rating. I've had a few good ones, but they were few and far between. That's one reason I did my admin certification. I wanted to see what in the world they were being taught. I found out, at least at my university, that the course work was great. I just think they get caught up in PR and politics and forget what it's like to be on the front line in a classroom everyday.

At least you're done and get a break. I have one week and then I'm off for a while too. Hope you get some Rand R and forget about school and kids for a while.

Thanks a bunch!! I don't know why this has me so devastated. He embarrassed me and now I have to work around someone who belitted me in front of students. Okay, I am obsessing!! I have a couple of weeks off to relax before we have to return for an inservice. I will just have as little contact with him as possible. Thanks Sherry!!
