I've seen several stories in the news about teachers getting into trouble at school for things posted on Facebook or on blogs.

I don't have a Facebook page or MySpace or a Twitter account. I don't have a blog spot or any other social media site. I have a life. I also teach educational technology.

The one thing I've discovered is that these type of sites seduce people into thinking they have to compete to be the coolest, busiest, funniest, most critical, most negative or most active person on the site. The site consumes their focus and this

Hmmm, touchy subject. I use facebook and I say whatever I want. Now I don't use names and I don't have my address or phone number on there,, but you have to give an email address to sign up. I use all my privacy settings and only my friends can see my page.

As for the pictures I post, they're all tasteful and if I post videos, they are tasteful as well. Don't want my friends seeing too much.

I can agree its our private life and we should be left alone. Others do the same and worse and nothing happens. But like you said Sherry that is naive.

I think this is just nuts. I do have a social media sight but use it more to keep up with friends and family. My settings are on private but even with that I am careful of what I post. Wow. That's all I have to say. If I were a parent I would not want my child to be in this woman's class. As much as my students aggravate me at times I tend to see the good in them. As much as they may frustrate me for not performing well I tend to see the potential. I do wonder if she was trying to be funny but I think it is just stupid. She must be very embarassed.
