Stood up at a faculty mtg

Here's my second rant of the day....We have 3 faculty meetings a month. They last for 30 mins. They are NEVER canceled and never let out early. Half of the material in these meetings could be covered in an e-mail.

Today we have a scheduled meeting and our principal and asst. principal are at central office but we are told they will be back in time for the faculty meeting. The entire staff sat in the library for 20 mins. and neither administrator showed up. Finally 2 teachers went to the main office to see if they had heard from the admins. They had not heard anything from them. Do these people not own cell phones? Can they not take 2 minutes out of their time and send a message that the meeting is canceled? My administration has no respect for the staff and this is just the latest example of their absolutely horrendous management style. Can you believe this?! After we found out no one had heard from them, the entire staff just got up and went home.

And I thought yesterday took the cake when they had an assembly for the 6 and 7 grade students explaining the new schedule for next year without telling the teachers first and not telling the 8th grade or UA teachers at all, except for a note in our mailboxes this morning!

Sounds like they are totally disorganized and don't really have a clue.....right?

I know how my principal got the job, she is personal friends with the superintendent. She was all the way down the list of potential candidates when the job was open. No one on the committee wanted her for the position. The supt. overrode everyone else's vote and hired her friend. The asst. principal got the job because he is a total wimp who can be bulldozed by the very strong women who run the district. He has absolutely no backbone and no respect from the staff.
I'm very upset about losing my job and the prospect of being unemployed, but I can't wait to leave this crazy place!

I know how you feel! I've seen a lot of people hired the same way. Sometimes I've wished I knew someone important with no ethics

OMG? Do you teach at my school? :) I have actually been known to schedule appts. for Wednesdays because that's usually when we have Faculty Meetings. I just ask before I leave what's going to be covered, and it never takes more than 3-4 minutes to say what would take 30-50 in the afternoon.
Plus, we NEVER get told when the kids have an assembly and our classes will be interrupted.

No, I don't teach at your school because if you schedule a doctor's appt on a faculty mtg day at my school you would get written up for not attending the faculty mtg. I work for totalitarian regime and I'm not even kidding.

Yikes! Ours aren't as regular as yours, and most of the time, they're only announced a day or two in advance, if that.
