This is crazy!

Two middle school students in Virginia are facing felony charges after they tried to poison their 66 year old teacher by adding hand sanitizer to her tea over a period of time.  She was made aware of what was going on by two other students.

Do you leave your drinks out during the school day?  I think I'd want to make sure I was using travel mugs or something with a lid after reading this story.  What is wrong with these kids?

...and I thought MY middleschoolers were bad?  Kids seem to get worse all the time.  It's just that if we don't teach them, no one will.  Perhaps this is happening because no one will parent them either?!

Express!

Beth you are so right!  Too many parents are not raising their kids. This is especially true when it comes to ethics and morals. So many blindly believe that their child is perfect and needs no guidance or punishment. They let them raise themselves and believe they can be trusted to know right from wrong. Others teach them to get even and be tough to everyone so they won't be bullied or abused with the mistaken belief that this will make them strong, decisive and independent. What it makes them is mean and vindictive.  Too many others are horrible role models and don't realize it. The kids copy what they see and then the parent defends them from guilt. I've seen so many variations on lost kid that I could go on and on with examples. Nothing surprises me any more.
