Earlier in the week, I read an article in the local paper on the arrest of a school principal.

A few points should be considered.

When you work with someone you get to know

Sherry, there was a TON more to the story. This is the principal for my son's school. All charges have been dropped, but it's polarized the school. There was a parent meeting earlier in the week, and it really seems like a line has been drawn in the sand. It's sad because the story (IMO) has been blown completely out of proportion. The incident happened on 11/19, but didn't hit the papers until almost two weeks later. I just hope the school can recover from it, both the staff and the parents.

I've been in a school where the principal was having an affair with a teacher. Both were married to someone else. There was a warning and staff meeting. Then he did something to violate the rules and crossed the line in the sand. He was fired immediately. Everyone knew what was going on and what happened, but a lot was also said that was blown out of proportion and a lot of lies were told.

Well I would be concerned about her mental well being that's for sure, but I would not just asssume she could not do her job. We all wear different hats for different things.

So she didn't take the break up well, how many of us do?? And the only reason we know is because the police was called and it ended up in the papers. I can't say this wouldn't concern me, cause it would but why are we all so one sided about things??

I know there are some people who thinks she needs to be fired and I disagree. She should lose her job because she had a domestic dispute with someone?? Really?? She needs counseling, some serious counseling.

I find it funny though. We hold athletes to a lower standard and pay them way more. We hold educators to a higher standard and pay them waaaaaaaay less.

People are multifaceted and if it does not affect your job performance, then its really none of anyone's business.

Oh and Sherry,

I completely agree with you. I honestly don't think this affects her ability to do her job at all. I think it's unfortunate that what should have been a private matter has turned into small town, front page news. I don't know how the teaching staff feels about it, but my understanding is they are supporting her. I could be wrong, but that's the impression I get.

I'm going to add, as a former Catholic school teacher, that we had to sign a contract saying that if we live our lives in a way that does not fit with the Catholic teachings, then we may be let go.
