Potty Training?

I was just wondering when everyone is planning on starting potty training with their lo's. For those who have already started/completed, what age did you start at? What made you decide to start? How long did it take them to get it down? How did you go about potty training them?

Kayleigh is just starting to show signs that she may be ready for potty training soon so I was curious. I've noticed her pulling on her dirty diapers the last few days. She doesn't do it often and only when she's gone a lot and her diaper gets kind of heavy. For those who have gone through potty training, when you started noticing signs of your lo being ready for potty training did you start right away and the small signs or wait? If you waited, how long and why did you decide to wait?

Yeah, 18 months was when we were planning on starting it at the latest. If she showed signs sooner then we'd start sooner. If she keeps up with grabbing at her diaper then I think we'll go buy a potty for her soon. She's always following me into the bathroom but she just likes to play with the cabinet but maybe if we got her a potty she'd sit on it too.

Luke is 2 now and has been showing signs that he might be ready for 5 months now, but he's definitely not completely ready for it. He started by grabbing at his diaper, just like Kayleigh. Then he started pointing at his diaper every time he went poop or pee (that's when I started putting him on the potty).

Thanks for all the advice! I actually already know when Kayleigh poops. She always does right after she eats her lunch. I'll definitely try putting her on the potty around that time once we get one for her!

Thanks Cassandra! I think I will go ahead and try potty training out on her. I like your approach to just having it there and showing it to her without any expectations. I foresee myself spending a lot of time in the bathroom in the future, lol!
