Hey, my name is Chrissy and I'm 16. I'm a teen mother to my daughter Aleah who will be 7 months tomorrow. She was born without half her arm, although we knew from the time I had my first ultrasound. I don't know if anyone is in my position, but I went through a very traumatic experience to get my daughter. I do not know her father. Anyways, she is a perfectly healthy little girl, and I hope i can relate and chat ih other teen moms out there!

Aww, your daughter is very cute! By the way, welcome to the board! Do you know what caused your daughter's arm to grow like that? How is she doing? Has she been able to reach all her milestones? Does it cause her any problems with doing things or has she already adapted and figured out ways around things with using one hand?

Aww, thank you! That's great the your daughter is doing so well! I've heard about things like that happening with the umbilical cord. I saw a similar story on tv a while back where this little boy was born without fingers on one of his hands because of the way he had been laying and so they had just stopped growing too.

How cute about her scooting on her stomach! Do you think she'll be able to crawl or will she have to go straight to walking? When my husband was a baby he totally skipped crawling and started walking really early. Lol, he couldn't stand sitting still. He was a very active baby. Is your daughter pretty active? Kayleigh wasn't all that active until she started crawling and then she never stopped, lol.

Thank you, she has been doing great. It's sad, but I have to say she wouldn't be the same to me if her arm was normal. It fits her personality, like she's tough and gets through things her own way. She seems pretty independent too. :)

I hope she is able to crawl, but her doctor says it would be surprising if she could do it comfortably. She'd have to find a way to balance with one arm... but if she doesn't crawl then she will have no way of getting around until she walks. And when babies start to crawl, it's like their first real look at the world and I don't want her to miss it. But, I guess if she keeps scooting that would be ok too. :) She is a pretty relaxed baby, but she loves

I think she'll still be okay though if she doesn't crawl. Maybe she'll just start walking really early! My husband was walking perfect my 9 months when he was a baby, so maybe she'll be like that. I know there's this thing that you can buy as a training aide to help your child learn to walk. I forget what it is exactly but I think it's like a harness type thing and then you hold onto it to help hold them up right. Then as they're trying to take steps you kind of support their weight and stuff. Does any of that make sense, lo. Sorry if it's a bit confusing. I just don't remember it too well. Shea (xgorg3ousx) had used one for her daughter Alysha so if you're interested you should ask her about it. Maybe it'll help your daughter walk early and then she'll be able to experience seeing the world at about the same age as other babies.

My daughter only crawled for about a month before she went on to walking. So spent so much time just dragging herself around too before she even started to crawl, lol. I'm sure your daughter will adapt just fine though with what ever happens seeing as how she's already doing so well. Does she have much interest in toys or is she too busy scooting all over the place to notice them? Kayleigh wasn't too interested in toys when she was littler. Like so loved to chew on them but she didn't play with them too much. She mainly just loved to look around at things, although when we go her her jumperoo she absolutely loved that thing. Lol, sorry I'm totally getting off track now!

I know she'll be fine. That sounds really great actually, i should ask her about that. she loves to stand if i hold her up, so she could enjoy that. It makes ense to me! lol, don't worry about it.

Aleah is in the dragging/scooting stage right now. that could be the closest she gets to crawling though. Oh man, does my kid love toys. she cant get enough of them. she loves to chew on them too, but she just stares and smiles at her little dolls and stuffed animals and coos at them. it's really adorable. we have a jumperoo type thing, she's not too into it actually. every baby is different i guess, lol.
