Hey All

I don't think I know anyone here, I was here a lot last year and the previous years. (The only person I know is Scotti haha and I came back b/c I saw you on the Christmas board)

I am Jaclyn, I am 24, I am engaged to Scott and we have our beautiful daughter Alanna who will be 4 in Jan. I know, not exactly a teen but I always enjoyed this board. We live iN new jersey and just moved to a nicer area (well nicer than where we were living) by the beach (and around the block from my parents). I am a stay at home mom, I go to school full time at night, I have 3 more semesters left :) When I am done I will be able to teach in the state of NJ. That's about it from me.

About time you came back here! You might recognize a couple others, but most of the board is new!

So how are you?

I have four more semesters left at ODU... so ready to be done!

Scotti,

I am so sorry to hear about your brother, that must have been a terrible thing to have to witness. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. I don't even know what else to say.

That's nice that you're a cheering coach, how much fun! How is the subbing going?

That's great that Christopher is starting preschool, he will love it I am sure. That is so great that you got him potty trained, you must be so proud. Alanna will not do it, if i mention undies she freaks, I tried the prize bin and reward sticker chart, nothing.

Congrats on owning the condo, how awesome is that? We just moved in Oct around the block from my mom and a few blocks from the beach. Scott got promoted, and I have 3 more semesters left of school. Other than that, nothing new...same old same old.

So I will be seeing you around :)

Hey, I recognize your SN but I have mostly lurked the past couple of years with the exception of posting here and there :o) I'm Haely 21 YO single momma to my DD Taegan (pronounced Megan with a "T") who is 18 mo old today. I'm recently in the process of trying to get back into school, for education also! What grade are you wanting to teach? I'm hoping to do younger kids, kindergarten thru 2nd... but no higher than 2nd.

Hey Haely (your SN does look familiar too now that you mention it)

Congrats on Taegan, what a cute name!

I am unsure as to what grade I want to teach. I did 60 hours observation with 1st grade and absolutely loved them, they were so much fun and wanted to learn everything they could, but I did my observation like 5 years ago before I had Alanna and I think I have lost whatever patience I may have had haha! But they are just so adorable and the things they say are just so funny. So now I am thinking grades 4-8. I am trying to get "highly qualified" in English so I could specialize in English in middle school grades if I decide to go that route. I just have to take one more English course and take the Praxis test for that area in addition the my other classes I have to take. I will also have Special Ed. Certification too by the time I am done, so I am trying to keep my options open.

Yes I did 2 semesters at a private university and I hated it so I transfered to a community college the next year, but only 9 credits transferred over, so it was basically like starting fresh. I did the community college for a year and then that May I found out I was pregnant so I took 2 years off and stayed home with Alanna and then went back to the community college for another year. I got my associates and last sept I started at a different university and it's full time at night so that part worked out well, now I just don't know what I am going to do come Sept 09 when I am doing student teaching because Alanna won't be in school yet, she'll end up missing the cut off date.

I think every grade has its pros and cons. I like the little guys because everything is so fresh to them, they still believe in santa and like the princesses and batman and stuff so that's always fun. The older guys you could kinda joke around with a little.
