Here we go, baby!!

Ok, so I made a New Year's resolution to take off 27 pounds by June. So far, I've only lost 2... (well, I lost 5 and then gained back 4 and then lost 2 again). Anyway, I think the reason it has been so slow is that I haven't had support or accountability. So that's what I'm seeking here. I thought I might post some weight-related status messages on my facebook profile, but I don't really want everyone I know to be able to see that.

Anyway, my mission is to lose 25 lbs by June 1st. I'm getting married in early June, and I'm wearing a sleeveless dress. I also want to have sculpted shoulders and a nice-looking upper back. So, I'm running (30-45 minutes) 3 times a week and weights with a cardio element 2 days a week. I'm also training for a half-marathon, so I'll do a long run (5 miles or more) one day a week. I just bought a hoodia supplement that I'm taking once a day and I'm limiting my snacking. I'm vegan. I eat healthy food all the time, so that's no big change, I just need to limit chips and crackers (don't have much of a sweet tooth).

So, that's my story (and I'm stickin' to it!). Wish me luck as I start down this road!

Hi Jennifer, nice to have you with us! By my calculations, you're looking at losing a little over

Thanks for the info. The supplement guide says to take it once a day "or for maximum effectiveness take before breakfast and lunch." I think in order to avoid side-effects, I'll go with the once a day recommendation. It isn't a pure hoodia, it has other stuff in it, so hopefully just that little bit will help without hurting. I'll keep close track of how I feel.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm so excited to be really committed. Just as a little history on me: I've gained and lost so much weight in my life! Most recently, a year and a half ago I weighed 195 lbs. In six months, I lost 40. I've been at and around 155 for a year now. I am ready to get down to my goal weight of 130, and my wedding is giving me the most motivation I've ever had. I'm so excited to be living my "best life" as Oprah would say. I want to feel good more than anything else. I don't want to have that over-full feeling that I get when I binge ever again. I want to have energy and vitality. I want to be able to really like what I see in the mirror. And I'm on my way!

I will. Thanks!

So, here's today's update: yesterday I sang in a concert. Usually when I get home from concerts I munch until bedtime. I totally resisted. I was tired and hungry, but I only ate 2 dried apricots and a tiny pretzel. I felt completely satisfied, and I slept so much better without that over-full feeling. Yeah me!

Oh, and also... I started this week (Monday) at 157, up 4 pounds from 2 weeks ago. Today, I'm happy to report that all that water/binge weight is gone. I'm back down to 153. So my mini-goal of 145 by March 23 is totally within reach.

I'm a musician and a music teacher. I have had a few paying gigs, but mostly what I do is community-based. The choir that I sing in is moving up the proverbial ranks, so probably as of next year I will be paid for what I do. I love to sing in choirs, regardless of pay!

Thanks for the happy dance!
