Alternate to working out!

Didn't get a workout yesterday morning....not my usual workout but I did get a workout.......worked for 4 1/2 hours at the soup kitchen lifting heavy pots, being on my feet, taking many many steps, and lifting tons of heavy dishes. By the time I left my back, my legs, and my arms were aching....but in a good way of course. Today I had church and didn't get a workout but did have a job with the children that required me to keep walking about a 50 foot section of floor over and over again. What I have to realize is that exercise isn't just walking on a treadmill, and doing exercises. It's about motion, walking, lifting and pulling. Sometimes we just can't get that workout in....but we can find ways to get exercise and to keep moving! If our body is aching by the end of the day we must have done something! Something to think about today.......did you get a workout??? Or did you get some type of workout today?? Tell me about it???

Sue, if you had worn your pedometer on either of those days I'll bet you would have achieved your 10000 steps!

I try to be active...on the days I don't work out I usually am working in the garden, so getting a lot of steps and lots of bending and squating etc. I tend to think that those movements are better for maintaining mobility and flexibility but don't replace my workout. I need to get my metabolism/heartrate elevated for the cardiovascular benefit and hopefully for some fat burning, and the real workout is when that happens. But I agree that any type of movement is beneficial and definitely better than doing nothing!
