Is anyone attending holiday parties this year?

Those parties can be a mine field for trying to control calorie, fat, or sugar intake...
We're attending our second one tonight. Last weekend was a party of friends, most of them cyclists. They're all conscious about good nutrition and many of them watch their weight pretty carefully (the more you weigh, the more weight to pedal up hills) but there was still a large quantity of food even if it was healthy stuff! Then there was a sheet cake for dessert to celebrate a birthday, and homemade ice cream (which was probably full fat) I did really well overall but I did take a larger piece of cake than I should have--I didn't finish it which was good. And I only had a few ounces of beer to taste it, and drank water the rest of the time. So overall pretty good.
Tonight is dh's office party. Last year there was tons of food, mostly pretty high calorie. This year I am being much more careful about what I eat and how much, so I'm going to have to exercise self-discipline! That's okay...if there is something that I really want I'll have it, but try to make good choices overall.
On Sunday night we are going out to a restaurant with some friends...and I may get together with some girlfriends for lunch if we can find a good day within the next week or so.
