It sure is quiet in here! I guess everybody is busy having summer fun?
I finally decided that I need to get back in control of my eating. My weight has increased only slightly but I can see that my belly is increasing (since menopause that's where I store more fat)---since the scale is much the same that makes me worry that I'm losing muscle. Anyway, a few days ago I signed up on Sparks.com to use the Nutrition Tracker so I can really see how much I am consuming.
So far its been interesting to see how unbalanced my diet is sometimes--and this is with me trying to make good choices and avoiding junk and sweets! Then last night we went to a dinner party, and while everything served was fairly healthy and I tried to exercise good portion control the calories went through the roof. (I couldn't even guess at how to enter a few things in the nutrition tracker and without them my calories were still way too high). So today is back to trying to make good choices.
I'm also trying to get my exercise routine shaped up (pun inteneded!). I cycle regularly, typically 3 times a week, but somehow its getting harder to get an aerobic workout there. According to my HR monitor I'm burning about 350 or more calories each session but apparently its not enough! I also do a lot of gardening which involves bending and squatting and a lot of walking around but I guess that only helps to keep my joints moving. I need to somehow up the intensity on the bike, add in a strength training routine a couple of times a week and do some ab work too.
