And the Post Office Video Confirmed What I Said

This morning I decided to walk to our local post office to buy Christmas stamps, it takes around 20 minutes each way but it wasn't too hot, so I thought it would be a good chance to get some exercise.  Later in the day I checked and found that the international stamps were five short, but I had paid for them, so I had to make another 40 minute round trip back to the post office.  I phoned before I left and they asked what time I was there and who served me and when I got there they told me that they had reviewed their video footage to confirm what I had said.  Just goes to show you shouldn't try to put one over on the post office, they are watching you!

I haven't posted them yet, it's a twenty minute round trip to the nearest post box,  so I think I 'll leave that until tomorrow.  So when you get your cards, remember it took 100 minutes of walking and a post office investigation to get them to you!   Wink

Gee Elaine I haven't even bought my cards yet.  I had planned to this past weekend but DS and L were here.  We did go shopping but I didn't get anything done - my job was to entertain L in the electronics department while DS and Bob shopped for Christmas.  We got very bored and almost ran away waiting on those two to get back!!

I always think how far your cards come, all the way from Australia; now I will mentally add the 100 minutes of walking and a post office investigation too lol!

Did they count the stamps remaining at the till I wonder? of just zoom in really closely on the video? I am not sure they have that kind of technology at our local post office. I will keep a sharp eye out for hidden cameras next time I am in there!

I think if I had to spend too much time in the electronics department I would feel like running away too Molly!

I wondered the same thing about counting Carole, and I certainly didn't think of the cameras either, especially not in our local post office, it is only a small one.  Actually, while I was waiting in the queue there was another customer ahead who said she didn't get all her stamps either, I'm not sure what happened there.

And speaking of cards, this year, instead of the usual illustrated cards I sent some with photos on them, with a description inside.  I chose yours especially because it includes the story of an Aboriginal legend explaining how the rocks in the picture came to be.  The name of the Aboriginal tribe is the same as your suburb, although it doesn't sound remotely Aboriginal to me, but I thought you might like the connection.  The name is also given to a river and locality in Sydney.  So there you go.

Holy smoke - that's what I call dedication!  I walked to our post office yesterday to mail the cards, but it was only a ten minute walk for me.  But like you, I found it wasn't too hot outsde to walk, ROFLOL...actually, it was about 10 C, pretty nice for this time of year.   I did get all the stamps I paid for, it was easy to tell since they all came in booklets!  You'll see, however, that I didn't actually use this year's Christmas stamps on the international ones, since I still had stamps left over from last year (although I had to add postage because the rates had gone up.)  We use snail mail so seldom now that a book of stamps seems to last me several years!!  I'll have to ask if they have video next time I go in, it's hard to imagine but you never know.

LOL Nefh, I didn't think it would have been too hot for you, if anything I would have thought too cold.!  We have had crazy weather the last couple of weeks, heatwaves a few days ago, then last night our coldest December night on record, down to 0C/32F.  Further south there was snow!

I usually have left over stamps too, I have some domestic Christmas stamps left over, but, as in your case, the rate has gone up this year.

I did say that didn't I Tracy?  Let me just say that by the time I was on my way home on the second round I was well and truly over it.  What didn't help was that a friend of ours, who has a business near our place, drove straight past me!

I know what you mean about not being able to post, I just go round in circles trying to get here.  "Not happy Jan."
