Just Wondering Question

Do you have an extra fridge?  If so, where do you find it to be handiest?

It is not uncommon for folks around here (expecially in the country) to have more than one refrigerator to store the overflow.  We have had one for years, and for years, it has been in the basement ... first in the utility room, and now in my scrap corner.  I always wanted a full kitchen downstairs, but it never happened, and it doesn't appear that it ever will, so I've been working diligently on cleaning out a space in the garage to move the fridge to.  Mostly because I am the one carting food to and from it, and often, we simply forget we have stuff in it until that stuff turns into science experiments that I have to clean up, which is NOT one of my favorite jobs!  The side benefit would be more room in the scrap corner.  It would also make bringing groceries home and unloading them easier.  I know it's a random sort of question, but I needed to test the water to see if I could actually post a new thread, and this has been the epitome of my excitement recently.  ;)

P.S.  The Quick Reply I tried with this first did not work.  Hopefully, this will ... and now I have a note that says my comment has been posted.  Huh?  Hmmmmmmm.

We have a tiny fridge in the kitchen (British/European style), a big one in the basement bar area, plus a chest freezer in a different area of the basement. I would really like to rework our kitchen to have a larger fridge in the kitchen, it is a pain to have to cart stuff up and down as you say, and I'd like to have a bigger freezer section in the kitchen fridge too, so that I don't have to keep running up and down stairs for frozen peas etc.

We have two chest freezers downstairs as well ... they're both small. I'm with you about carting stuff up and down.

We only wish we had an extra fridge :). We do have a small chest freezer in the kitchen. If we did have an extra fridge it would either be in the laundry room or outside in the pump house (which is no longer used because we are on rural water supply now)

Here goes ......

So far it won't let me post, just asks me to log in again & again & again!

Lots of people I know have 2 fridges. We have 2 big fridges (people only have little ones as bar fridges) & ine upright freezer. We have one fridge & the freezer in the kitchen & the other fridge is in our very over crowded laundry with just drinks in it. We really do not need 2 but both our fridges were good & we knew we'd get a pittance for one if we soild it so decided to keep it.

I only have one fridge...and it's side by side with my freezer. They are both smaller than I'd like but we make it work. We have a one story house so I wouldn't have the carting issue. My dream is to have a shed out back that we can move joe's big tool box can go into which would move it out of the laundry room giving me space for a freezer...I'd like a stand-up one as opposed to a chest freezer. Then I'd like to replace my current fridge/freezer with a full fridge (no freezer). But first that damn shed needs to get built! lol On a side note, Caity got this "fridge pet" from thinkgeek that greets you every time you open the fridge door...and if you keep it open too long it starts saying things like, "i thought we were friends" and "what are you looking for?" And my favorite, "global waaaarming!" lol. I will say it works to keep me from staring in the fridge for too long...and we all seem to talk to it too! "How's it going?" "fine fridge pet..." lol

Our extra fridge is just a small bar fridge which is built into the breakfast bar, it came with the house. Our only freezer is a mini sized one which we won in a raffle, it is about the size of the bar fridge.

Operation Move-the-Refrigerator-to-the-Garage is complete. I was cleaning in the garage (which I do every day ... inch by inch, you know?) when Red came home from running a couple of errands. I don't know if he planned to work in the garage today or just decided to help me ... he never tells me what his day off plans are ... but he pitched in. He cleared the ramp at the back of the garage, so we could bring the fridge up on the dolly and burnt a bunch of stuff and moved the bicycles. I cleaned out boxes and quart jars, and rearranged sports equipment, and WA LA! Slowly but surely. :) Will post more later ... Red is napping. I want to grab some scrappy time while he's out! ;)

Well now, you just never know what each day will bring :) congrats on moving the fridge, now all you have to do is remember that you have in fact moved it, and not go trotting down to the basement every time you want something from the extra fridge lol!
