This year will be different from any in the past in some ways and in some ways, very much the same.  My brother and his wife alternate holidays, so we'll be having the actual dinner with my parents this year and then will see Red's parents later in the day.  My DIL mentioned a possible dinner at their house on Wednesday, which would be lovely.  :)  They have bought a new home, and have just gotten carpet and tile laid.

Normally, I have to work on Thanksgiving as a family in the church has, for the last ten years, fixed a dinner for people in the community who would be alone on Thanksgiving day.  I go down to the church just before it starts, and hang out and visit with people for a couple of hours, and then go to the family dinner, at whichever house, but this year, the family has decided ten years is long enough, and the committee that it comes from has decided to combine the community dinner with the church dinner this Sunday.  So I will *not* be working on Thanksgiving this year.  That is difference number one.

On Friday and Saturday, my DIL and I are having a Christmas Fair at her house.  I have been working diligently to get things ready.  I've altered 27 clocks and 34 clipboards, and I've completed 61 Christmas cards.  I have 24 more cards to finish, and some more clipboards I could do.  I might also put some gifts in a jar together (I washed up nearly 40 quart jars today when we cleaned up the garage -- see the JWQ post for more info).  And I'm taking my CDs.  All Star and Brooke have a "party room" with their new house ... it's a screened in double car garage that is also heated and air conditioned.  You can put the garage door down and have an indoor party room, or put the garage door up, and have a screened in party room.  Brooke's sister makes jewelry and other things, and she is planning to come as well.  Brooke sells Pampered Chef.  Hopefully, we'll have a million gazillion people, and sell out.  :)  That's the plan.  You're all invited.  ;)

and those are my plans ......

I have plans to do exactly nothing. DH will cook no doubt way too much and I will eat no doubt way too much. I am hoping not to have to work the day after but it depends on the appellate attorney's schedule whether that happens or not. if she has a big brief due I may have to work a bit over the weekend. We'll see.

So I shouldn't look for you at the Christmas Fair then? ;) Doing exactly nothing sounds like a delightful way to spend the holiday. :) Good for you!

Hmmm does the fact that Thanksgiving is around the corner also mean that Christmas is close??? In that case I do not want to hear about it!!!

Geo- that's what we call a Garage sale!

Well, actually...it turns out I AM doing something on American Thanksgiving.  See, I used a Canadian calendar when I was figuring out when to go down to visit my father, and it didn't occur to me until after I had booked and paid for the flights that it might be Thanksgiving week.  It hadn't occurred to my father, either, LOL.  I have no idea what they do on Thanksgiving, but I guess I'm going to find out!   I fly back on the Friday, which I figure shouldn't be too bad as most everyone will be occupied at WalMart beating each other up to get the latest toy...LOL

LOL! you must have some really upscale garage sales over there! Here a garage sale is where people try to get rid of all the old junk they no longer want in the hope that someone else will not be able to live without it :)

I am a sucker for garage sales!

Here, a garage sale would be selling old clothes and knick knacks and used furniture, etc, vs. selling new handmade items, but hey ... the CDs I've had for nine years just might qualify! ;)
