Ladies-- I am a room mother for Declan's pre-school class, and one of our responsibilities is apparently making a classroom keepsake project with the children that is then raffled off at the school's winter fundraiser.

Well, our preschool's big fundraiser every year is an auction. The item that has the highest bids every year is a bowl with all of the kids handprints on it. Honestly, it costs next to nothing for the school - we get a local pottery place to donate it, and fire it. The preschool teacher has gotten quite good at getting the kids to put awesome hand prints on. In the past, this got $500+ for one bowl (one class's bowl, and every year there are 2 bowls.... plus a boatload of other donated items).

I like Sarah's idea a lot! And you could probably check out your local pottery painting shop to see what other cool things you could handprint or have the kids paint... like a big vase, or a platter, a piggy bank, cookie jar, etc.
