I say don't hesitate calling the other mom. A benefit you may not realize is friendship for you. Most of my friendships since becoming a mom have been mothers of my kids friends. My son Michael is in 5th grade, and we still take steps like this. It is nice to talk to the other mom before sending him to an unknown house to play. I had a mom call me just last month because her son and Michael are in the same class and have been talking about playing after school.
