Preschool -- I changed my mind!

You ladies might remember my internal debate about whether or not to send Ben and Sammie to preschool (cost is a huge factor, but also questioned the need). Now that the babies are here, and I realized how I have absolutely NO time for homeschooling, I've changed my mind -- we're sending them to preschool this fall!

I found a very old-school, traditional, down-to-basics preschool nearby that offers a 4's class 3 days a week in the afternoons! So they would go from 12:30 to 3:15. How perfect is that! They will be gone while my youngest three nap! WOO HOO!!! B&S and I visited the school today and really liked it. The director was very sweet and kind, but definitely has a firm hand, so to speak. Just what Ben needs!! :)

It is going to be a strain on our budget ($360/mo total) at a time when we're shelling out a lot on diapers and formula, but I think it will be soooo worth it.

Just thought I'd update! :)

I am so happy for you that you are making that work. They will get so much out of it, and you will love your afternoons. I think it is worth it in the long run, to work it into your budget. I've thought of you from time to time since that discussion, but never really knew what to say. I know that many people get by just fine without preschool, or doing it themselves at home, but I have had such positive experiences with my children and preschool, I can't imagine not doing it.

I hope everything is going well in your busy house.

Nope, no free preschool. That would be nice though... if I send Abbie, Emily and Oliver to preschool for both 3's and 4's, plus this one year for Ben and Sammie, I will be spending over $13,000 total just for preschool for all five kids!!!

If it makes you feel any better, our local Catholic high school costs almost that much for one student for one year ($11,000). So, 5 kids for 1-2 years each isn't too bad. :)

Jamie .. I'm SO glad you're working that into your budget!! They learn SOOO much at preschool and you will LOVE the afternoon with your youngest 3! :-)

IMO .. I think preschool is important, especially the year before starting Kindy - so this is the perfect time for them to go! I can't imagine my kids having never attending any 'school setting' and then off to full day elementary school.

Brantzen will have his first preschool year this fall as well ... course, being my baby ... wish I could just keep him home with me .. but I KNOW he'll learn so much more than I'd teach him .. plus, the crafts and fun they do ... I know I'd never do that much with him, KWIM?

Yay!! :-)
