When we get home and the candy is all checked we let them eat whatever they want and as much as they want.

Were going TOTing on 3 different days this year and will end up with a ton Im sure. BB and DD can have 5 things each that will last over a week and then Ill take out all the Kit Kats (My HUGE pregnancy craving) and the rest is going to DH and the guys in Iraq. He emailed me the other day begging for Candy so we decided pretty much everything we get will be boxed up next week and sent over.

I read a suggestion to chop/crumble it all up and freeze it to use in cookies, to top cakes and brownies, in ice cream, etc throughout the year :)

DD won't be getting a whole lot of candy b/c we've got to switch out her bag after the TOTing (dietary restrictions). I'm making up a batch of peanut butter cups tomorrow. Any leftovers will go in the freezer for the adults. But I'm going to be putting mostly non-food stuff in her bag.

Because we only have DD, we will be doing a modified trick-or-treat. We will probably only go to a dozen houses or so and she can eat all that candy over a couple weeks or so. I looooove candy so I will probably eat some of DD's candy as well.

I just read an article in a magazine about doing science experiments with leftover Halloween candy. I also read about a woman who does a turkey made out of construction paper and each of the turkey feathers is a scavenger hunt question that leads her kids to one piece of candy. She does one a day for the month of November. Sounds like a lot of work but fun for the kids.
