Could you / would you / do you work at a job that requires 1/3 travel? There is a great job opportunity for me but it requires 1/3rd travel within the US..

thoughts? thanks!

Morgan, the main main thing is would you be comfortable doing it. If you feel Trent is in good hands the time you are away and it's a job you really want, I say go for it. I know moms who do travel - I am sure it's tough but they are managing and maybe the kids actually come out better because of it all - independence for one!

However, I do feel that traveling 1/3rd the time is quite a bit. Ray travels about 1/3rd for his job and is gone 2 to 3 days a week. He also misses dinner with us on most nights even if he is in town. I, personally, couldn't do that but then again, I didn't even try - I quit after having Keian. Only you know what works best for you and your family and you need to make the choice.

Finally, it's a job. If you don't want to have regrets about it, you can always take it and quit if it doesn't work out for you.

Good Luck!!

Since I really *really* dread flying, I'd have a very hard time accepting this job.

1/3 is a lot. It's like, being away for every Monday, Tuesday and half of Wednesday of EVERY week. It's being away for 122 days of every year. It'll be hard to miss some of the things you may miss while on the road (Halloween parades, concerts, ball games, etc.).

On the plus side, you might run into George Clooney while you're up in the air. And you'll be able to get into all the frequent flyer lounges. And you'll get to see a lot of the country. And hopefully you'll also be getting a massive raise because I'd need to be paid a LOT of money to live 1/3 of my life out of a suitcase for some company.

Do I think it can work? Absolutely. Do I think you can do it? YES! Because you are awesome. But, do you *want* to do it? If the answer is yes, go for it! Please don't think I'm judging any choice you make - I just know that personally I'd have a very hard time with that much travel. But, luckily, we live in a day and age where a bedtime story can be read via free videoconference on skype. It's an amazing era for travel.
