I'm curious what everyone chose!

We chose the Pottery Barn Kids one that was on clearance (they don't have the pattern any more).

It's sized "small" and looks like this, but it's blue with green and pink dots:

We have a matching lunch bag too. I got such a good deal - clearance plus 20% off plus free shipping. We put the initials on it too. She can't wait to use it and neither can I :).

I know it's weird, but Lloyd doesn't take a backpack to school. They just have us take in a change of clothes that they store and that's it. :D He does have a backpack- it's cute with geckos on it, but it's not for school.

Irena,

Jensine actually picked the same backpack, but in the purple/green with white polka dots. We have the matching lunch box too. Evan picked an army green one from there as well, with the lunch box.

Here she is, on her way into school on the very first day! She couldn't be prouder of that backpack, which was a desperation purchase for us on the East Coast. She was going to camp and I forgot to pack her one and since my laptop backpack was NOT going to camp, we got this at Target. It was $12.99 and I was fairly certain it wouldn't last longer than one day at camp. Ha!

However, it took a beating and still washed well. We were going to pick her an L.L. Bean backpack for school (lifetime guarantee, y'all!) but she was so in love with this one and I wasn't going to argue about it.

So far, we win for the sparkliest, though! When the morning light catches those princesses, they really shine! Hahahaha!

Trouble is, I've seen a few of the same backpack walking around campus, but, no one else in her class has it. I do think I need to make her name a bit more prominent, though.

C'mon, did anyone else get a tacky one?

Ashley your story made me laugh. Lana has a matching rolling carry on suitcase for when she goes to Europe - same sparkly princesses from Target.

You know, I never thought about it before I read it on this board a while ago, but now I'm paranoid about kid's name on the backpack. Because child predator could use

I'll post a pic of it in a bit but Irena, I put the girls names on the INSIDE of the backpack for that reason:) That way all the teacher/kids need to do is open it up and see who's it is if there is a question. The girls also have a hello kitty zipper thingy that they put on their backpacks that way they know which is theirs at a glance.

LOL guess that someone else had a similar pail *sigh*

Yeah we have tacky too--for the second year running. Couldn't get pics though, Josh boycotted first day of school pics. I have a few of him crying, what a nice memory. Last year it was Sponge Bob-ewww & this year he picked Mario Cart! I tried to talk him into a nice sturdy Jansport but nope, he saw Mario & his mind was made up. I haven't noticed any others like his, but his class is all about tacky! LOL Last year in his spring pics they had a sheet of pics on laminated cardboard with a hole punched in it. I think they were supposed to be used as a keychain maybe? Who knows. Anyway I took them & ziptied it to his lunchbox & backpack handles with his teachers name on the back. That way he can recognize it & so could someone else but his name isn't plastered all over it. I though it was pretty ingenious. rofl

Matthew picked Iron Man. I would have preferred something more plain but he really wanted it. I figured that tacky or not in my opinion, he loved it and I was excited by his excitement.

And I also am against labeling backpags, shirts, etc for that same fear Irena.
