We're back!

I figure most of you know that b/c I've been posting some here and on facebook but I figured I'd say hello officially! We drove through the night Friday night (and the kids slept all but the last 90 minutes of trip which was awesome) and got back yesterday around 7:30am. We spent the day just happy to be home again and with me unpacking and catching up on alittle laundry (I did most of it there). We had GORGEOUS weather every day and LOTS of fun!! The kids went back and forth between the beach and the pool about every five minutes and there were always lots of cousins to play with. My mom babysat the kids some and we were able to go to dinner and lunch with other family and enjoy ourselves. Thanks to a thigh rash (b/c of sand trapped in his shorts), Nathan ran around pantsless and thus, threw up into potty training. Its actually been going really well though and I'm excited! Overall, it was a great trip and the kids loved it. Nathan actually demanded to go to the beach this morning and Matthew requested returning to the beach house soon!
I took lots of pictures and I'll upload later to facebook. I can't get pictures from my new camera to load to dropshots for some reason.

That sounds great Steph! Do your parents live near the beach house or did they just come with you?

How was it, driving through the night with kiddos? If they only slept from 5am-7:30... wow, with my kids that would be a long disaster...

Hey, Linnea's started potty training too, because it's summer and I'm letting her hang out with no pants on, just long shirts/dresses etc... she can't pull stuff down, but at least she's ready to go when she needs to. It's going pretty well! When we put panties on her she just wets them though :(

Way to go Nathan on your PT progress! :)

My whole family went to the beach with us. There were 32 of us all together. It was sort of like a mini family reunion but just at the beach!!

Oh, and driving with the kids through the night was awesome! Completely the right choice. We left around 9pm and they fell asleep right away. They didn't wake until 5-6am and we were home by 7:30. So overall, they slept nearly the whole drive. It was great!

Welcome back! I am so envious. I would love to have 32 people family reunion on the beach. I can't drive trough the night, I get way too tired and it ruins my next day anyhow because I have to catch up on sleep. I find that I do much better driving half way, staying overnight in a motel, then finishing up in the morning. Even a few hours of "real" sleep do miracles for me and my mood the next day. I envy people who can do it in one swoop! We've done DC-Boston trip many times without stopping and it's not easy on me. But with little kids there are benefits from just letting them sleep trough the night in the car. Glad you had such fun!

I can fall asleep in the car easily so Eric napped for a few hours before we left and then started out driving. I went to sleep immediately and slept on and off until Eric got too tired and then we swapped and he slept. By the time we arrived, we each had slept a decent number of hours and were ok throughout the day.

We had considered driving part of the way and then staying in a hotel but for one, we didn't want to waste the money on a hotel, and two, the thought of entertaining two boys during normal waking hours for nearly a 10 hour drive, um, no thanks!
