finish the sentence!

....climb through the cab window and lay in the capped back of our pickup truck on long car trips, rolling around squishing my brother as we turned corners...

... play in our kiddie pool and sandbox while mom made dinner or did laundry

... accompany Dad to the beer store!

... bring mom her lighter!

... ride my bike to the end of the street and back

In my memory, they seemed to let me do LESS when I was a teenager, but that could just be my perception on things.

when I was four my parents let me...

- ride in the back of the pickup truck into town

- attend late night keggers with them while they boozed it up with their friends I ran around iwth all of the other abandoned children. They would usually round us up around midnight or one.

- run around outside for hours without supervision

-play in the rundown barns next to our house w/o supervision

-climb on the rafters in those barns

-go over to the neighbors house (out of sight, about 1/4 mile away) without telling them where i was going... i'm todl I often went over wearing flipflops/shorts and a sweatshirt in the middle of winter

Morgan, that's great that you wouldn't go with someone just because he "said" he was a police officer. Ha ha...

but Lahryn's parents' keggers win so far... holy crap, my parents NEVER would have done that!

...not much, not much at all! I lived in a big city, surrounded by many people and cars, so my parents were always cautious.

...ride in a car without carseat/seat belt (but that hasn't changed over there to this day, so no big deal).

...eat well-beaten (raw) eggs with sugar (but then again I still eat them, it's my favorite desert).

...bring dad beer from the fridge (still not a big deal over there since there is no drinking age).

Seriously I can't remember anything more risky. My parents are not risk takers.

The keggers were a normal thing for me growing up. lol. There were usually two or three per summer at various friends houses.. I still see the kids occasionally, that I use to run around with at these party and we marvel that our parents allowed us to do crazy stuff..

Two of the places had ponds that we would all go swimming in (minimal supervision.. ) but I'm sure they didn't allow us to do that at four.. I don't know at what age they did start letting us though.

But we would go out around 1 or 2 in the afternoon and stay really late.. checking in a few times.. usually there were around 100-200 people or so there..pig roast, lots of alcohol, live bands, etc..

*sigh* how did I survive my childhood? I can't imagine allowing Hannah to roam free at thsi kind of event! lol

I'm in the same situation as Irena. We lived in a city and my folks were extremely cautious with us there. When I was five we moved to a suburb and then all hell broke loose. We were practically feral. Just kidding - but we did have a lot more freedom and less supervision. LOL.

I do remember that when we lived in the city, my mom let my older brother, who was 8 at the time, go over a little bridge (over a brook) in our back yard and walk to the convenience store which was within sight of our house. My mom wouldn't let me go with him and I said, "When I get bigger and grow a penis, THEN will you let me go?"

I guess he was older and HE had one, so you figured it would be a natural progression for you?
