James still isn't getting his busy work in class, yet his reading level is where he should be at the end of the year. He is in trouble non stop and she won't even let me know what is going on. I didn't even know if his meds was doing any good. He started reading the Magic Tree House books and she said that he couldn't read them in class during free reading time because they were too hard, which I knew wasn't' the case because I have been reading them with him. The vp really helped out. He is now able to read his books and his teacher was getting some "fun" math stuff for him to do if he finishes his busy work.
Glad you got your login fixed Val! We miss you around here! Sorry about the cat issues. Hopefully Michelle's right and as you guys get more settled it will calm down.
I was "that" parent too this week so I can relate a bit with how you are feeling. Jordan got on red once last week and once again this week. Last week's reason I totally agreed with but this week I thought was stupid. He HAD to go to the bathroom during lunch and the teacher moved him to yellow b/c they are not supposed to go during lunch for safety reasons. Hey sometimes when you have to go--you can't hold it! Then he got moved to red for telling this girl in his class to leave him alone. I've volunteered in his class and know that this particular girl is a nosy know-it-all so I felt he was totally justified. hahaha
I'm glad James is doing well! Sounds like the VP is on your side!
Aaahhh! I just had a meeting with A's teacher. It started because I was concerned that she was pretending to be sick or tired because she wanted to get sent home. I think it's torture for her to be at school, knowing that I am just around the corner and home all day. Well it turned into a discussion about her being one of the lowest readers in the class, her not paying attention to instructions, complaining about doing the work rather than doing it. I know she is smart!! She just doesn't have the motivation to do better. I am scheduling a vision test to rule out a problem with that. She was supposed to be reading these little paper books 2x then brining them home to read 3 more times before turning in the ticket. Well rather than reading them...she was shoving them in her desk. We found a huge ziploc bag of them!!! UGH!!!! What do I do with this girl?? The teacher said they should be reading 35 WPM right now with a goal of 47-67 by the end of the year...and she is only reading 21 WPM.
