Hi Everyone,

I know there is a great group of "regulars" here ( momma2beauties, buttons_n_bow, Octobermamma, Kierasmama, 4.Kids.4.Me,  and many more!) and I want to make sure each and every one of you are able to log in and post like normally.

So please update me here on your specific issues and if you're not able to even post, trying PM'ing me or email: policy@mail.ivillage.com. You can also check here for updates:

http://www.ivillage.com/forums/ivillage-women/around-ivillage/ivillage-help

One big fix that happened yesterday was that the vast majority of older threads now work again! Try it for youself!

If you just want to post and complain, well, that's okay too! Wink I know things are frustrating right now but I PROMISE, it's just temporary. Our tech team is working like crazy to get all the kinks ironed out for us.

When I posted this, I had no idea that you all were based in NYC. As I went on to search for some insight, I found a link & realized that you indeed have many people who were affected by the storm. I do hope that everyone is safe & realize now that IVillage was impacted greatly by Sandy. My main complaint (& complaint of others here as well) is that I get knocked to the end of the thread after posting a reply. I have found ways to get back to my spot easier for sure, but it still is a pretty major annoyance. Plus, I have to write down what page I'm on when I close the browser out otherwise it takes some time to locate where I left off. I know one person used to use her ipad solely & can get the main page to open but cannot read any replies. She too has the issue of getting knocked to the end of the thread & since she works outside the home full time, her time for the computer is very limited....w/the issues she's having she ends up not having any time to "catch up". Other things like being able to change signatures w/out getting the "this email is taken" reply etc. is something else that hasn't been fixed but of course isn't a huge deal. The quick reply not being able to take hard returns is something else that appears to still be an issue. Again, thank you for your reply & I'm glad people are safe from the Sandy disaster.

Thanks for checking in with us. I hope everyone working at ivillage is safe and that no one has suffered any major damage.  Our thoughts are with everyone affected by Sandy.  As to your questions, for me the fact that a few of our members can't see any of the replies is the #1 problem and the reason we are communicating elsewhere for the interim. Since they can't participate at all, we had no choice but to move so as not to carry on without them. We understand Sandy is having an impact on the fixes, but we also don't want to wait with no end in sight, kwim? The 'thread memory' problem is probably the biggest 'annoyance' but not a deal breaker knowing you all are working to correct it. The second biggest 'annoyance' for me is the slow loading pages combined with the new glitch in the 'quick reply' that no longer recognizes a hard enter putting a space between lines in a post. We used to be able to do that but now just get run-on posts. If we want to have separate lines of post, we have to use regular reply and that's just slower. Lower in priority for me is the email account is already taken error, but I do hope it will be fixed.

we really want to come back to our "home"....any news at all? >>

That makes me sad to hear but I do understand. Frown Unfortunately, Hurricane Sandy has really wreaked havoc and caused additional delays :

I do know that before the storm, they were pretty close to having a fix for the bug that's causing some members to not be able to see replies. Would you guys say that was the "main blocker" for you to return? Or the lack of "thread memory", perhaps? Let me know- this will be great feedback to pass along.

Thanks for the additonal information!

I don't have any specific information in regards to an ETA for fixes but I do know that right now, the #1 priority for the tech team right now is fixing the bug that is not allowing some members to see replies. I will definitely pass long the info about the "view more posts" per page preference not "sticking". You're seeing this on the regular site, too, correct? (not just the mobile one?)

Thanks for not giving up on us!

I can get on the board with my phone but it will only let me read the first post and not any of the replies. I think that is the problem for one of our posters here--she can't read any of the board while on her ipad.  I also tried to change my preferences to view more posts per page and it won't save that change and will only let me view 10 posts per page.

thanks for the replies. I've passed your response on to those who haven't been able to even get to the board. Also, do you know where things stand in regards to signatures? I just tried to again put mine up & am still getting the remark that the email is already taken. (& it's mine) I know it's not high priority but I really use that more than I realized to see who was posting what! Thanks!

Thanks for the additional information! Here are my replies:

Members who can't get in- PLEASE encourage them to email policy@mail.ivillage.com or PM me so that we start to get them back up and posting again. I did hear from one member from here last night and have replied. The issue with the old bookmarks not re-directing or older thread not opening *should* be resolved. Please let me know if you hear of it still happening. The bug that is not allowing some members see replies is our tech team's #1 priority right now so we're hopeful that will also be resolved soon. The bug that is preventing some members from editing their preferences is pretty close behind in terms of priority. I also know for sure that the error with quick reply not taking the hard return is also on the "known issues" list.

Buttons_n_bow: I've also experienced the same thing with the quote feature and have passed it on.

"Thread Memory-" I miss this function too (where it remembers where you left off reading in a thread). It's something that in time our tech team can build back in but it's just not as high of a priority as other issues right now, such as some members still not being able to log in.

I have a small workaround option for this - it's not quite a good but it helps some. Under the original post but before the first reply you'll see "thread options". You can select newest to oldest and it will temporarily show you the newest replies in the thread first. It's temporary b/c once you leave the thread and come back to it, it reverts back to its' default setting- oldest to newest. It's not quite as good as thread memory b/c the newest reply might not be the newest reply that you've read but it does help avoid going through pages of older, longer threads.

There's also another option but it's under "preferences" so you probably won't be able to try it right now  :(  Under "Edit my preferences" (right hand side of page), click on the "general" tab. Then, click the box that says " sort topics by time of most recent post".

I know I keep saying this but THANK YOU for continuing to hang in there with us!!! The tech team is working days and even most nights to get all the kinks ironed out for us. You can also check the iVillage Help board for any latest updates:
