17 DPO...whats going on?

Hi,

I am new to temping, this is my first month. I also am recently off BC Pills (3rd cycle off), so I don't exactly know what my normal cycle is, or cycle length. Anyway, I am on my 17th DPO and still no AF. I have also tested and gotten a BFN every time...what is going on? Could I still be pregnant but just not registering on the test yet?

Could you have o'd on cd 23? I notice a second level rise there. Most woman start af 10 to 16 days after O. Some woman dont test ++ untill 18 dpo. actually I meet a woman that tested -- untill 25 dpo but I always figured her O date was wrong ! Good luck and your temps look great !

I don't know, Fertility Friend thinks I ovulated on Aug 1st, which was CD 12 (if I remember correctly!). I suppose it could be wrong, but I figured the second level of temps made it triphasic. Also, my cervical fluid corresponds more to an ovulation on the 1st. Though I remember reading about one lady that said FF thought she had an annovulary cycle and she ended up pregnant, so I guess anything is possible!

Honey, Girl! You are PREGNANT! That sure looks like a triphasic temperature climb to me! Plus, if you test high tomorrow, that's conclusive. Your hgc level might just not be high enough to be caught on the hpt. Congratulations.

Oh I am so glad that I am not the only one thinking like that! I don't want to get my hopes up too much. I tired to test last night with Clear Blue Easy, it says that you should use morning pee if you are testing before you are late, but you can use any time of the day pee if you are late for your period...so I figured it was okay to use nightime pee...but the silly test didn't take. Must have been a faulty one. I didn't get any lines at all. So I decided to wait a day. I am going to test again tomorrow. Maybe my levels will show by then. I sure hope so!

Thanks,

Valerie

(Temps are still up today, though a little bit lower than yesterday. I should note that I had a restless sleep and ended up taking my temp an hour earlier than normal due to being woken up by comotion on the street outside at 5am, and having to pee! Guess that could have something to do with the temp being slightly lower!)

Congratulations! Day 18! Whoopee! That confirms it! Even with a slightly lower temperature, it is still above the coverline, meaning it's certifible. (Especially since you took your temp earlier.) Good luck with the next nine months!

Well I am really getting discouraged....I tested again today and it was a BFN again....what else could be happening? I thought if you made it to 18 DPO with elevated temps than you were 99.999% certainly pregnant. Am I that other freaky .0001%.... What could explain why I am not getting AF or a BFP? It seems kinda odd that I wouldn't have enough HCG by now to register.

Eighteen days of elevated temps are definitive. The home-pregnancy test is not. You can trust your body. There are several posts here who have talked about not getting a + test until much later into their pregnancy. The lutuel phase is never longer than 18 days unless there is an early m/c. (Sending you sticky vibes, hoping that doesn't happen.)

I'd go see your doctor as soon as you can to confirm. I'd trust an accurately done chart over a hpt (especially w/ a neg).

Good luck.

Wow, I have never heard anybody be so confident on charts. I thought it was the other way around, that the HPT is the most definete indicator of pregnancy, and the charts just show patterns that could indicate pregnancy. Guess I need to go back and read the FF handbook!

Anyway, I am so tired of getting BFN, so I am going to wait till early next week...if I haven't gotten AF by then, I will test again. If nothing by then, I will go see the doctor.

Thanks...I will keep you updated!

If you haven't read it already, I'd also recommend you check out "Taking Charge of Your Fertility." It's a great book. Most libraries would have it. (The author, whose name escapes me right now, is an "expert" for iVillage.) The book is very thorough about many of the questions you are having. (Don't buy it, because I don't think you'll be needing to keep it. HeHe!)

The only times you get more than 18 days w/o pregnancy is when there is a blighted ovum or other issue that a hpt would give you a false positive as well (eventually).

Ironically, I haven't charted temperatures since conceiving my first. I just don't get the requisite three hours of sleep every night to give me a good chart. (Neither of my kids are great sleepers, and now I'm not either!) So I've just been using c/m and c/position. The problem with not taking temps is that I don't have that definitive "Yes, I ovulated!" I can only say, "It looks like I ovulated."

Well continued luck. Hope those hcg levels get to the point they give you that BFP!
