4 days late...pregnant?

Hi,
I was supposed to get my period on May 1st, and today (May 5th), it's still not here. I don't even feel like I'm going to get it: no cramps, no bloating, no headaches, no sore breasts. All those symptoms usually precede my period, not always, but usually. I don't have any of those. What I DO have is constipation. But this isn't all that alarming, since I've been plagued by on-and-off constipation for years now. It'll come suddenly and leave just as suddenly. I guess I'm just nervous and attributing the late period and constipation to my being pregnant.
Also, I think it may be important to note that the only time my periods have EVER come on time was when I was on the birth control pill. After being on the pill for about 1 year, I stopped taking it around January of this year (2008), because it was wreaking serious havoc with my emotions. The last time I had my period was last month, and even that came I think 1 or 2 days late. That leads me to believe that my body is just reverting back to normal (pre-pill). It took a couple months for the pill-induced hormones to wear off, and now my body's (hormonally) back to how it was pre-pill.
Furthermore, I don't have any of the symptoms of pregnancy, except possibly constipation. I'm not more tired than usual, no nausea, no weight gain, no frequent urination, no sore breasts, etc.
I'm thinking of taking a pregnancy test if I don't get my period within a couple days. What do you all think? Your advice/suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your time.

Thank you for your reply. :)
I don't know if it's the same with you, but a couple days before I get my period, my breasts do tend to hurt. So maybe your period's coming soon. But then again, you said your periods've been accurate and regular...so I don't know. If I get some good advice/info, I'll surely forward it to you. :)
Hope everything turns out well for you! Good luck.

Yeah, I know that having hyperthyroidism can cause either an absent period or a very irregular one. But I was tested for it 2 years ago, not because of any menstrual problems, and it came up negative. I know the symptoms, and constipation IS one of them, and currently I suffer from it, but I don't think it's a thyroid problem. Though I'm no doctor. I'm going to call in about an hour and make an appointment, because this is really, really starting to frustrate me.
Yesterday, 2 new symptoms sprouted. I had some pain in my lower abdomen, sometimes only on one side, sometimes on both and the middle, near the pelvis. Usually it was sharp, sort of cramp-like...but I think that may've been from the constipation. Also, and this may be a little TMI, when I urinated yesterday, it was painful and burning, and when I wiped, there was a little blood on the paper. The pain was in my lower abdomen, too. I know that this is a key symptom of a urinary tract infection, but if that's what I have, then that doesn't explain the late period (which I still haven't gotten, 6 days later), the new lower abdomen pain, or the constipation. Now I've read that these can all be symptoms of an ovarian cyst. But this seems very random to me.
Anyway...considering there are new symptoms, what do you all say?
Thanks! I really appreciate all your input. :)

Yeah, I have to wait until 8 to call the doctor...because they aren't open yet, haha. I've read and been told that contipation's a symptom of hypothyroidism. That's what 2 doctors have tested me for.
About the kidney infection...great. Well, hopefully it's something minor...I guess I'll find out soon, eh?
Thank you for your reply. The kidney infection had crossed my mind, but left it pretty quickly.
