6 days late, but negative test...

I'm 6 days late on my period and it's usually been right on, every 28 days! I did have unprotected sex with my man about 3 weeks ago, but he didn't come inside me (I know there's still a chance of conception, of course). Anyhow, for the past 2 weeks I've had mild cramps and I get nauseated after eating pretty often, but not always. I've actually gotten sick only twice. My breasts are sore as hell, especially my nipples, but that's really common with my PMS. I was supposed to have my period last Friday, April 6th, and I spotted a tiny bit of light-pink on the 5th but that was it!! I NEVER spot before I start my period. The only times I've spotted were because I was pregnant. But I took a test yesterday and it was negative. I know most likely I'm not pregnant but maybe I ovulated late? Or maybe my body just isn't producing that HCG chemical? Could it be a tubal (ectopic) pregnancy?? I haven't been stressed lately, I haven't been eating differently or exercising more or less than usual, so I really don't know what else would cause a late period. Every other time it's been late like this, I was pregnant. My boyfriend wouldn't be very happy at all, but if I was pregnant I would be very excited. Anyone experience something like this?

I had a similar experience when pregnant with my daughter. I was sure I was knocked up pretty much from the time of conception. Started testing (one test) before I was even late. I continued testing after my period failed to show up because the first test was negative. Long story short, I was 18 days late (having always been regular like clockwork) and had 4 or 5 negative tests, and my doctor was very concerned and about to order a blood test if the next EPT came up negative, because she said either I was pregnant and needed to know or there was something wrong with me and needed to know. I went into the office for it, and the nurse told me that it turned positive pretty much immediately after my urine touched it. Then the theory was that I was already late when I got pregnant. Well, that didn't play out after the ultrasounds showed how far along I was. You sure sound pregnant to me. I don't know how much of that might just be thinking you might be though. One possibility is that this time you are like I was, and your body is producing the hormone, but you are excreting it in amounts too small for a urine test to detect (this turned out to be the cause of all my false negatives). Another is that it is a tubal pregnancy, but those are very rare and women usually still test positive with them because your body still makes the hcg. My advice is to call your gynos office and speak to a nurse. Follow their recommedations, and try to get an appointment ASAP. You might need a blood hcg test which can detect much smaller amounts than EPTs do. Also, if you have any reason to suspect that you might be having any kind of problems, be it tubal pregnancy, or an unusually irregular period (which can indicate other reproductive problems like fibroids) you should talk to your gyno. It's their job to know about these things and also their job to take care of you. Best of luck, and hope that you find out what's going on soon. (But like I said, you sound pretty pregnant to me!)

I made an appointment with Planned Parenthood for Monday. I talked to a rep. there but she said since I'm not a patient there that the nurse can't give me any advice over the phone. I've been pregnant before, and I remember the symptoms all too well! This time around, I'm more dizzy/faint feeling and the nausea isn't consistent. I've had constant mild cramping and it's turned out to be gas (lol) and I keep thinking it's my period coming. I remember the last time I was pregnant, every little cramp I felt scared the hell out of me and I thought I was having a miscarriage. It's that spotting last week that has me suspicious. I spotted just like that (only a little more bloody) when I was pregnant last time. But I knew right away the day I missed my period! I tested 5 days later and it was positive. If it was a tubal pregnancy I would think I would be in more pain? I'm really nervous, I want to be pregnant but my boyfriend would flip his lid again. We broke up in 2005 because I got pregnant and he manipulated me into having an abortion and the agony that caused me pretty much made me go crazy on his ass, and he broke up with me a month later when I needed him most. Here we are back together after a year and a half apart, and we've only been together for a month..and I might be pregnant again. I wouldn't let him drive me into abortion again. It would be a certain, quick end to our relationship, but I would be ok with that. Right now I just want to know if I am pregnant or not. You know that feeling when you think you are..but you know you're probably not, but then again you kind of know you are... It's a little too weird to describe. I would be sooooo happy to be pregnant again. I want to go get another test!!! But I'm going to wait until Monday when I get tested at the doctor's office.

i worked at planned parenthood for awhile .... tubals usually dont become painful right away. usually more when the baby starts to grow... like around 8-9 weeks.. if u arent showing postive on a at home test u prob wont show positive on their tests either and they usually wont do blood work ever enless you want an abortion i would go to a real ob/gyn

Wow. It sucks that he put you through that. I hope that if you are pregnant that this time he will be more mature about it, and if he can't handle it just leave instead of putting you through so much pain. Abortion is one of those things that can really traumatize a woman, especially if she was ambivalent about having one in the first place. I had a friend who went through a really bad one too. She was unfortuante enough to find out her boyfriend was married immediately after discovering that she was pregnant. The conversation was something like "Joe, I'm pregnant", "Yeah, well I'm married." Like I said, you do have all the symptoms of being pregnant, especially the all important late period. However, if you tested positive so quickly before it's odd that you wouldn't this time. Of course, I keep hearing that every pregnancy is completely different even if you have been pregnant before. I'm suspecting I might be preg with my 2nd right now, and if I am, then this is way different than things were with my daughter. I'm way more nauseous and dizzy. If it, God forbid, were a tubal pregnancy, you would probably have some serious cramping, at least I would think you would. The one symptom of tubal pregnancy that I always have heard about makes no sense to me. Apparently shoulder pain can indicate an ectopic pregnancy. I hope that your shoulders feel fine. The good news is that if it were tubal, you are going to see a doctor really soon, so you would find out quickly. The only other possibilities I know of (I still think tubal pregnancy is unlikely, but abortion does increase your risk) is that either you were pregnant and didn't know it and are about to miscarry (that can explain the lack of hcg in some women, they scared the hell out of me with that scenario when I was so late and expecting my daughter)or that you're pregnant but your hcg levels are still really low. The spotting makes me wonder though. I wish you the best of luck for whatever outcome you feel would be best. I'm sorry to hear that your relationship is jepordized by this. This is one of those times when a woman really needs emotional support. Good luck on Monday, I hope they have some answers for you. Who knows, maybe you will start tomorrow and there will be no worries after all! The female body has a crappy sense of humor sometimes :)
