AF, Where Are You??!?!

Okay, so I need some advice, suggestions...anything.

I am currently taking a low-dose bc, and have been for over a year now. Well, this past cycle I ended up starting my new bc pack a day late. Instead of taking two pills that day I just took the one and went on as if it were on schedule. (I'm not even sure why I did this?? I wasn't able to get the prescription filled until a day after I should have started it, but looking back on it now...I know I could have just taken the two at once...) Anyways, a couple of weeks go by and I start feeling not-so-great. I would get dizzy and very nauseated. One night I woke up and I was really hot, I ended up throwing up and then felt better. Well, the nausea continued, and has done so since...though not as much now. Luckily, I only threw up that once. I tend to fight the urge to throw up, I hate it! (Side note: I have two other children, with my first I never got sick and my second I experienced nausea for a short period of time, but never threw up.) I decided I should test. Being realistic, I knew it would be too early even if I were but I couldn't resist and bought 2 Clear Blue Digitals. Of course, it was negative. So, I waited until last Wednesday and took it again...negative. Now, here comes the part I am confused on. My husband and I went out of town Wednesday and I forgot my bc. So I didn't take the last two pills left in my pack. So last Wed and Thur I go without BC, and I typically start my period 1-2 days after I start the "period pills" portion of the pack. So, Friday I wasn't too shocked when my period didn't know up because it really wasn't supposed to, but I tested with an EPT just to see. That was also a negative. Here I am at a little past midnight on Tuesday and still no period. I have another EPT to take but I don't want to. Obviously, since I am on BC, we aren't trying for a baby...but we most certainly wouldn't mind another. Seeing all of these negatives has actually made me very sad, and I don't want to test again just to see another one.

Could I have messed my cycle up with starting the new pack late, and also not taking the last two pills. But, from what I understand (and please correct me if I am wrong!) is that missing those last two pills should have made my period come sooner, not later than normal?!?!

TIA!

Hi Holly...welcome to the board!

It sounds like you technically missed 3 pills total this cycle, right? I think that's enough to screw up anyone's body. I agree, I would normally think that it would make AF come sooner, rather than later, but then again nothing's impossible :) How many days late are you now? Could you see if your doctor could do a blood test for you? I think that would be pretty accurate.

I know how disappointing seeing all those BFNs can be, even if you're not trying... maybe hold on to that last EPT test for one more week and try testing again, if still no AF?

Well, good luck and I hope you either get AF soon or a BFP :) Keep us posted on how you're doing!!

Hi Robin! Thanks for the response.

I don't even know how late I am, I just know that I am late! LOL Oddly enough, since getting on bc AF never comes exactly on time each time. It is usually one-two days after I start taking the "period pills." So, I am guessing that would make me one-two days late now. I plan on waiting until next week to test, and if it is a negative then I will wait another week and then get to the doctor. I will keep you posted!
