Does anyone know if antibotics can prevent your period? I know it can lessen the affects of the pill, but what about your period? It has never happened to me in the past, but my husband and I are trying and my period is a few days late and the test I did last night was negative. I feel different though. Anyone have any insights?

Hello stinkerbellsteph,

Are you my lost twin??:) No just joking...I have been experiencing the same things...well I don't know your symptoms or anything, but I recently took some antibiotics (well once in August and once the middle of October) and I didn't know it could effect the pill, until a few weeks ago, and my period was all wonky and stuff and that's never happened to me, I really don't know if antibotics effect your period...I really never thought about it, I thought I was pregnant, and we tested also negative the day after my period was supposed to start and all I had was spotting...but than it picked up, but not like a regular period should and today my period was supposed to stop, and it stopped late last night, and I still feel the same way, but now i feel worse, more light headed and headaches up the ying yang and a lot of dizzyness, and I think I feel some nausea coming on, my stomach feels so tight and bloated it's really uncomfotable....I don't know what's going on with us, but if you find out anything before me, please let me know, and I'll keep you posted too cause I am just as lost and confused as you are I bet....so best of luck with you, are you going to test again or just give up??? We don't know what to do, but if we are going to test again it will pribably be thie Friday, or next Friday...best of luck..

Shana,

I did start my period this morning so at least now I know. How long have you been trying to get pregnant? We have been trying for the last few months now and hope to have good news soon. I did speak to an advice nurse yesterday who told me antibotics could delay my period by a few days. I never knew this! Hope this helps a little bit. Keep me posted on your progress. Good luck!

Sorry took me so long to respond....we're actually not trying to get pregnant rightnow, we have talked about it, and we've decided that the deginning of next year would be a good time to start trying, but see what happened now is I took antibiotics for a UTI and I didn't know that antibiotics could effect the pill, I've taken antibiotics twice with in these last three months, the first time I took them for an entire week, the second time was just for three day's, and yes of course there was some sex in there, and not that I'm feeling this way we were thinking that maybe the pill was effected and I ovulated around the time that we did have sex and something happened....my period did come but not till Saturday morning (it was supposed to start 31st Friday but all I got was brownish pink spots) and it was very ir-regular, now me period has completely stopped but i am still having cramps, back pains, headaches, light headedness, and I'm getting some nausea also, my bb's aren't sore but they were for a few day's at one time....today I feel really bloated and tired all the time, I'm not really hungry unless there's candy around, than it's gone like mad......We wouldn't mind having a baby now, we really can't say we'd be mad or anything cause if I am pregnant it wasn't planned and wasn't something bad, no, but oh and also today I've been having some cramps and some mucus is coming out some times it has a brown tint to it but very light brown, and that's not usual after my periods are done either.....we can't get into my doctor until next week, so we were just wondering if we should test again, or just wait it out...i don't know...but I wish you good luck on trying to conceive, will this be your first? Well very good luck, and if you find out anything else please let me know.....lots of baby dust, like everyone else say's :)
