My husband and I have decided to start TTC! Of course I'm very excited but with his deployment schedule, we need to get pregnant like NOW, lol. I was on the pill, with about a week left of my "active" pills, then my "period" pills. I basically just stopped taking the pill yesterday. I'm hoping that my body will O soon because of the pill. Anyone else gotten pregnant right off the pill or have any tips?

Thanks a lot! Of course I'm sure everyone is as anxious as I am, I just keep feeling this time crunch coming down on me and it's making me worried.

I know how anxious you are. I am too but because of my age (35). Anyway, there are a few that did get pg right away, but some have taken between 3-6 months to get the pills out of their system before they ovulate (mine is 5 months, I know I finally did this month). It really depends also on how long you were on the pill too.

Wishing you all the best and ask any questions - someone here should have the answers especially about whether you are Oing or not.

Camille, are you from the subwives message board?

I went off the pill in June, with no luck right away. I also stopped mid-pack, which was probably a mistake. Many symptoms afterward, to where I thought I was pg (sore bbs, fatigue, cramps, nausea, etc), but nothing. We are on month #2 with no time to spare because DH is leaving very soon and will be gone for awhile.

Most people that I know that were on the pill got pg within 6 mos after going off.

I AM from the SWC!! LOL. That is too funny.

Eww, so stopping midcycle was a bad move for you? I tried to tell myself to finish the cycle, but I'm hoping to make a period come NOW, so that I will have one more chance to get pregnant before he leaves. it's times like these that I don't like the Navy!! First you have to plan WHEN you can get pregnant, so that it can HAPPEN, then so he can be THERE for the birth! Drives me crazy trying to do all these numbers in my head. Yours is going out for a 6 monther, right? Mine is only going out for a patrol (Boomer) so I guess it could be worse, but it still sucks!

Hi Camille, I was wondering if anyone from the board visited here. Glad to see a familar face.

No, DH isn't going out for 6 monther, shorter thank goodness. Trial runs or something. Don't know, don't ask.

For me, going off mid-pack was hard. AF didn't show for 33 days, and when it did, nothing but spotting here and there. I haven't had a real AF since May.

This is your first, right? I know you have the rottie. Is he still digging holes?

Hiya! I am also a sailors wife and we began TTC before he left for deployment. He doesn't leave until next month, but we stopped taking BC 3 months ago. You will have a lot of pregnancy symptoms most likely because the hormones stay in your system for a while. I am right now actually thinking that my symptoms that I am having right now could really be pregnancy this time (crossing fingers and toes). I heard that although it varies from woman to woman on the time it takes to conceive after BC, but a lot of the charts show that it usually takes 6 months on up to a year, but like I said; everyone is different and you may not be irregular like I am which makes it harder to conceive after BC. I hope all goes well for you. BTW- where are you stationed? Hope to hear from you soon!

Erika,

Oh good, not a long one then!! I actually got Boozer to STOP with the digging, but now his barking is annoying the neighbors!! If its not one thing, its another!! UGH.

Trishlute,

We're stationed in Kings Bay, GA. What about you guys? I'm really hoping that my body wants the baby as much as we do, LOL and just goes for it this time. I'm so impatient!!

Camille~

This is my story with my daughter that's 2 now. I was being lazy and when I finished my last pack of pills I needed to go pick up the prescription however Wal-Mart was one way and my work was the other so it tooka good 2 weeks for me to go pick them up. Thinking that I had enough BC in my system me and DH got a little frisky. Any who I picked up on the pills where my doc told me and 4 weeks later never got a period went in and I was 6 weeks pregnant. So I'd say I was off the pill for day or two and thats all it took. So your prayers might be answered sooner than you think. I also have a girlfriend of mine who years ago missed 2 days and tried to double up the following 2 days and she has a 4 year old boy due to that. so anything is possible and everyone is different. Good luck to you.

I just wanted to add that my sis-in-law got pregnant on our wedding night last year and she was still on BC (with no intentions of going off) and said she never even missed a pill (I have a darling niece now). Also, I have a friend who decided to start ttc, so after 10 years of being on BC she went off and the very next month she was pregnant... she was 33 at the time. So... anything is possible!

Good Luck to you! I wish you a fast PG result!!!!
