break through spotting while on BC

Hello all,
I'm really not sure what's going on with me. I was on a triphasic bc for a long time and decided to try taking Alesse where you can take 4 packs in 3 months and therefore only have a period 4 times a year. Well, at about week 2 of the Alesse, I started bleeding and it was a little lighter than a period, but it lasted until I was finishing week 3. I decided the heck with this and, instead of taking a week of inactive pills, I started back on my triphasic pills I had been taking all along. Has anyone heard of ovulating in a situation like this?
I am wondering because about 10 days after DH and I had BD ( which was about 6 days into starting my old pills) I am having a lot of cramping. Then I started just being absolutely exhausted for the last 4-5 days (like feeling almost drugged regardless of how much sleep I got) and some waves of nausea and frequent urination and a increase in CM. I didn't start thinking anything (since I was on BC) until I started putting all the symptoms together. Well, when the cramping started so early (and I don't get much cramping while on BC anyway), I started analyzing what else was going on. I have always gotten implantation cramping with my 3 pregnancies I've had so far, and it was always 7-10 days out.. in my previous experiences, I cramped up a lot early, then by the time AF was due, the cramping stopped. I should be expecting AF around Tuesday and the cramping started about 2 days ago. I never threw up or had sore bb when I was pregnant, but I do get very tired (like I've been feeling) and a little nauseous... I'm just confused because it just doesn't seem possible with the pill, but I was wondering if me switching pills and having the almost 2 weeks of break through bleeding may have caused ovulation?? I may have missed one pill but I always take the missed one the next day - I've never completely skipped one all together.
Opinions?
TIA
Erin

Hi Erin,
I think it's pretty common to have breakthrough bleeding when 1) starting a new kind of BC and 2) when starting one that goes straight through for 3 months at a time.
But if you've had these same other symptoms w/previous pregnancies, then I guess it could be possible. I would maybe wait until Tuesday (when AF is due) and take an HPT.
HTH, and good luck... please keep us posted on how you're doing! :)
