Hi, I am a mother of 5 beautiful children. Each pregnancy was definitely different. I went into the doctors because the other night after my husband and I had sex I had contractions for an hour. I know what those are because I have had them with 5 babies. It was so scary and weird. Now I won't have sex. I did 2 pregnancy tests 3 or 4 months ago and they were positive. But I have been having completely normal periods every month!!! So after my period I did another and another test and they have all been negative since. Long story short. I have been feeling off for months. Eating weird food, major moody and I weigh 115 pounds and I have tummy that keeps getting bigger and on my sides I'm gaining weight. Everyone is noticing.

They didn't do any blood work or an ultrasound? Did she decide to do anything else to see what's going on with your stomach?

While it's probably rare for a doctor to miss a pregnancy from just a physical exam, I could see how it could be possible (depending on the position of the placenta and the baby).

Considering you had 2 positive pregnancy tests a few months ago, I think they should be doing some blood work or an ultrasound to know for sure. Your hcg levels start to drop after a certain point in pregnancy, so taking a HPT after a certain point in pregnancy could come back as negative. There are woman that have period throughout their entire pregnancy, so the period alone doesn't rule out pregnancy.

Personally, if I was in your position, I'd request blood work and an ultrasound. Did you ever seek prenatal care after those 2 positive HPTs?

no because all the rest of the test are negative.......I have an ultrasound in a month maybe I will see if I can get it quicker. All's I know is I can't do up my jeans barley I feel so chubby.....I have always all my life been tiny so it's weird...the weight gain is only around my hips and in my stomach.....all's I want to do is sleep so I don't no....If I was 4 or 5 months the doctor couldn't of missed it though right????? I do have a tilited uterous where I carry in my back so maybe but I doubt it.

It could have been missed. It would be rare, but it could happen. I'm not trying to make you worry more. It's just with all your symptoms and the positive tests, I'd be really wondering what else was going on. It depends on what exactly she did for the physical exam. If she was feeling your uterus and it wasn't enlarged, then it's unlikely that you are pregnant. I'm not sure how a tilted uterus would feel on physical exam though, so I don't know if that would be an issue in a physical exam, but I do know a tilted uterus can make it difficult during ultrasounds. I hope you feel better soon and get some definite answers.

If your doctor was really confident that you aren't pregnant and you trust her, go with that. Good luck with your ultrasound.
