Hello Everyone!

It's been a long time since I have posted any questions here, since trying to conceive my daughter, who was born 12/31/03.

I dont know about dogs but my cats were very clingy before I found out I was pregnant. I couldnt get up and go anywhere in the house without one of them following me.

Had I listened to my dog, I would have taken the pregnancy test much earlier! I had been on a trip with my dog to visit family. My dog was very clingy when we returned. He is generally by me, so it wasn't totally unusual. However, he was now ALWAYS on top of me... on my lap, on my legs, across my chest, on my stomach... I just thought he was making sure I didn't go on a trip without him. It took me a week before I took the pregnancy test that told me I was pregnant. Always listen to the dog! :-) Good Luck...

I agree with the others. Animals in general are very perceptive and will pick up on it long before you may even know. Good luck with the testing.

My dog is a very affectionate dog but never really a lap dog...now right before we found out I was pregnant she started following me around and even would climb into my lap when I was on the pc...I mean all the time! Well about a week/2 weeks later we found out I was pregnant. She followed me around for 9 months and tried to be a lap dog until my belly pushed her off ;) Now that Rain is 6 months she is back to being affectionate but not always under my feet...so maybe your dog knows something you don't ;)

Yes, dogs can tell that something is changing and that something is coming. They have a sixth sense-The same sense that tells them to warn others and hide if say, a tornado is coming your way.

Our dog, Loki, knew I was pregnant before anyone else. Heck, my whole family and husband knew I was pregnant before I did. With so much going on, I didn't want to worry about a pregnancy. Course, now I'm glad it happened.

I'm currently 9 months pregnant now and, just like you, our dog Loki (a Chow, Sharpei and Pit Bull mix) was all over me too. Never letting me rest and always wanting my attention. When I'd be laying down in bed, he'd climb up and rest his head on my stomach.

Now, he knows that labor & delivery is coming on soon. Both times that I started to go into premature labor, Loki would start whining and pacing. He even went up the stairs and scratched at the door with small barks, signaling that I needed attention. He's also been a good helper around the house too.

We're preparing everything for baby and if I'm having trouble grabbing something (and if it's light enough) he'll pick it up and carry it to me so I can put it away. When I dropped the bag of diapers, he picked up the bag and carried it into the bathroom for me. Without me saying a word and set it on a low shelf so that I'd be able to reach it easier and put it away.

I hope these experiences of mine help you out.

It's so funny that you posted this... I was literally wondering the same thing a few days ago, when my sisters dog kept following me all around the house. He is very terratorial and is ALWAYS at my sister side. Well, the past couple of days he's is always underfoot! It's gotten to the point I have to tell my sister to come and get her dog. I don't think I am preggo, since I am on BC and just had a period this past week. But I do think that animals can pick up on something... Who know's what he's picking up...

Hello,

I have never been pregnant so I am not sure. I have heard Dogs/Cats can sense these things.

I hope its a great sign!!!

I was just mentioning this to my daughter the other day. When I was pregnant with my 4 1/2 y'o, our Lhaso Apso (Male) was my shadow. He followed me to the toilet, the bed and back again ... and when the Doc put me on complete bedrest, the dog would sleep with me 24/7 and he normally sleeps with our eldest son every night.

I've noticed over the weekend that Sebastian (our dog) has been following me everywhere again, climbing into my lap etc ....

I'm almost positive that they can sense things before we know!

Hopefully this is a good sign!!!!!
