Can I be pregnant 5 mnth after birth????

Hi everyone, I need some advise. I gave birth to our first child in May of this year. She is now just over 5 months old. I have been breast feeding up until 3 weeks ago when I dried up practically over night. I have had one period, and just realized last night that I should have another period in the last few weeks but haven't. Is this possible? My husband and I used condoms, but not properly all the time (sometimes delayed) Has this happened to anyone else? I don't know if I should take a test or wait it out? Any advise would be greatly appriciated.

It hasnt happened to me personally but my friend had her baby in may and was pregnant again 3 months later. So now she has two little ones ages 2 and 1 they are exactly 12 months apart. She said it was very hard to have 2 babies in diapers but she did it. she got the 2 yr old potty trained right before she turned 2 thank God. :) So yeah its possible..especially after 5 months. Hope that helps..
Just wanted to say that I’m living proof that you can get pregnant three months after you give birth. My mother gave birth to my older sister on September 24, I was born the following year on September 16th.. oops!…. which means I was conceived in December, three months after she gave birth to my sister….
