Can you have a blood test too early??

My wife had a blood test last Thursday, which she thought would be the first day of her period. The test can back negative. However, we think she may have ovulated later in her cycle, like day 18, 19, or 20. We think this would mean her period wouldn';t arrive until at least day 32. Would day 28 have been too early for a blood test??

Thank you for your thoughts.

Yes, if that is the case then it is very possible she took the blood test too soon. I believe they say the average to show positive is around 10 to 12 days, but it can take even longer.

I've read that you can take the blood test as soon as 8 days after ovulation, now I guess you would have to know exactly what day you ovulated to be right at 8 days. So if your unsure when ovulation occurred you could have taken the test to soon.

I went to the doctor this morning and guess what. It was confirmed I am pregnant. So yes the blood test can be false if you ovulated later.
