do u have to use a basal thermator or can u use a regular one?

I think you can use any digital thermometer. The ones that are specific basal therm, usually go out to an extra decimal point, so it's a little more accurate. But if you only have a regular one, as long as it's digital, it should be fine. Are you just beginning to chart? I am, I just started this morning.... good luck! :)

No, You have to use a basal. Just a 1/2 temp or even a .20 temp change can indicate whether or not you ovulated on a specific day.
