checking cervix for pg

Okay all, I don't know if anyone knows about this but I just found out that you can check your cervix and it might shed some light as to whether you're pg or not. Normally your cervix is long and firm. It kinda feels like the tip of your nose. during ovulation it gets higher and then after O it gets longer and firm again. If you happen to get pg, The cervix will be high and soft. Hope that helps. I guess I'll find out if it's true. Mine is high and soft.

I have heard this. Have you checked yours prior to this? They say for you to truly tell, its better if your already familier with your own cervix, and how it changes through your cycles. I think thats more for the difference between high and low though...that can range a lot person to person, but the softness is hard to miss. So I hope your right on this, and you get a BFP soon. When is AF due? How many days past O are you? Just curious. This is my first month checking CM and CP...so curious as to when this is apparent.

I think af was due 8/30 but I am coming off of depo provera. My last injection was 8/02 and I started getting af back in may 03 thanks to meds by my doctor but I have been slightly irregular. If i went by my last cycle of 25 days, O would have been around the 16th and I should have started 8/30 (didn't) but it could be off a little bit. I think it is right on track though. I had some spotting 22-23 and started feeling kinda sick around the 25th. I have checked my position prior to this, I have been checking my cm, and it definately feels different. Took a test today and it was bfn but it may be too early. good luck to everyone that's trying!

from amIpregnant.com.....

- Twelve day - Possible week of general ovulation (Note: 14 days

before next menstrual cycle begins, is a general assumption for

ovulation. It has been noted women can ovulate at any time during

their cycle. This chart is an example of a typical 28 day cycle).

Somewhere from the 12th day of your cycle through the 18th day, you

may ovulate. You may feel your cervix is very high, open and wet.

- Nineteenth day through twenty-eighth - PMS (pre-menstrual

syndrome). The cervix is now returning to the dryer, lower, closed

state you noticed above. If you were pregnant, your cervix would be

closed, become blue in colour, and cervical mucous would begin

increasing due to hormones and blood flow to the uterus.

Cervical postion varys from woman to woman ...There is no way to check your cervic to know if your pg or not. With my mc my cervic was low and firm and this last cycle not pregnant it stayed high and medium. Every woman is diffrent!

Evidentally the cervix does have some kind of determining factor with pregnancy...or the doctor wouldn't do a cervical exam on the first prenatal visit. It's scientific fact that the cervix will remain high and closed if you are pregnant. ...now as to whether your average woman can determine this by feel...I don't know. But I'd say if you're super in tune with the way your cycle runs and your body changes it is possible. During a miscarriage, the cervix will be low and open, I had a miscarriage in July. But in a normal, healthy pregnancy, the cervix absolutely has to stay closed. Women still adjusting after a miscarriage, like myself, can probably expect to be a little left of normal for a couple months depending upon length of pregnancy. I should O within the next 5 days, since I've become more familiar with my cervix these past three months...I want to track it as we ttc again too...we'll all have to compare notes. Good luck and baby dust everywhere!!! Amanda

I've heard that it is possible, but is pretty unreliable unless you're really in tune with what your body does every month. I know after I O'd last time I returned to low/firm this time around I'm still high/soft, so I guess I will find out if the difference matters in about a week!

Okay, I am pretty much in the middle of my cycle. We have done the deed on the 1,2,4,6,and 7th of Sept. I am due to start on the 22or 23 of this month )28 day cycle). I felt my cervix today and it feels like a mass of mush??? I cant even feel the hole. I felt it with my daughter at 7,8 and 9 months along and i know what it feels like and it wasnt even close to this. Does this mean that I am ovulating or what??

Sorry if it was TMI!!

Besides the position of the cervix, is it normal to have a whitish sweet smelling discharge? I am one day late and testing at end of this week (the latest, do not want to get a "-" if test too soon) if AF does not show up but today i've noticed a more than normal abundant discharge (i've been checking for AF every time I go pee so I've been attentive).

Anyone have a clue ???
