I am not familiar with clomid, what exactly does it do and how do you go about getting a prescription?

Thanks for the help!

Clomid is a medication that causes your ovaries to release eggs. You take it on CD5-9 and it will cause ovulation after that. Your OB/GYN can write a prescription for you or they may refer you to a specialist...Just a warning--Clomid can often cause multiple births b/c it can stimulate the ovaries to release more than 1 egg! It doesn't happen often but it's possible!!

Good Luck!

Thanks for your response, yeah the multiples thing is a little nerve racking! So can I just ask my doctor for it, or do they have to identify a reason for it?

See I have had a history of ovarian cysts and have had 4 surgeries because of them, then I had ovarian cancer back in march and had surgery to remove my left salpingo oppherectomy (left tube and ovary removed) along with 3 lymphnodes. So I do only have one ovary and I have a lot of scar tissue.

What do you think they would do? Thanks for all of your help ladies, I dont think I could deal with all this stress alone!

Clomid only increases the chance of twins by 10%. It also can cause cycsts on your ovaries. The days that they give you the clomid can vary with each person and vary with the reasons you need to take it. Some women have to take it because they do not ovulate on their own. Some women take it because they either want to stimulate their ovaries to produce more eggs and then others to get better quality of eggs. I wish you luck.
