Could I be pregnant?

Hi everyone. I don't think that I am pregnant...but have had some odd symptoms lately and was wondering if you could give me your advice.

I have been taking Yasmin for several years now, and my periods are always predictable and normal. My last period was 5 weeks ago and was normal (I actually started a new pack to keep myself from having a period until this week b/c I went to the beach last week)

Around that time (I think maybe right afterwards...or maybe right before...I can't remember:() I took a one-week round of Metronidazole (Flagyl) for VB. Have been with BF over a year now and we don't use any other form of BC. Stupidly, I totally did not think about the antibiotics making the BC ineffective.

So...2 weeks ago I had really bad indigestion one day, then another day a severe case of dizziness and nausea (I almost fainted) and then vomiting. This was at night. Then I had the same thing (but not to as severe of an extent) about 3 days later. Have had a couple other bouts of nausea as well. I also have felt very tired in the last few weeks, especially when I wake up in the mornings. I feel like I could sleep another 8 hours...

Of course, with the nausea and vomiting, we thought that maybe I was pregnant. My period was due to start this past Thursday, and it did, sort of. But it was so different from normal...both Thursday and Friday all I had was very dark brown, very light flow. I just wore one panty-liner a day. Today (Saturday), just a couple of spots. Plus, this week, before starting, I didn't feel like I normally do when I am about to start...even with Yasmin I always feel bloated, sore breasts, etc. Plus, Thursday I had just the mildest case of cramps...and usually I have substantial enough cramps on the first day that I have to take some Aleve or something.

I don't know...I guess I should take a HPT, right? Could this past weird period have been implantation bleeding? How long would those antibiotics have made my Yasmin ineffective?

Any knowledge or advice you have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Time to take an HPT. Anytime you're on an antibiotic and BCP's, always use back up during and 7 days AFTER stopping the antibiotic. I believe Yasmin is one that takes effect in your system after 7 days. Double check the info packet just in case, but that's what I'm remembering from when I was on it. Yasmin is also notorious for having a side effect of skipping. But based on your other symptoms and that you've never had issues before, I'm going to lean towards pregnancy at this point.

Thank you, compyquin! Guess I need to go out today and buy some HPT's...

I looked at my schedule and realized I took the antibiotics right after my last period (around October 26). Then, the nausea, indigestion, vomting episodes started 2 weeks later. (around Nov. 19). Then the weird "period" was this past Thursday - Sat.

Ugh..wow...I never thought I'd even be pondering this. I am 34 and for some reason..just always thought I would have problems with fertility. I have just never worried about getting pregnant! Stupid, I know...

No, I don't think that's stupid at all. Just remember that even things we least expect, often happen for a reason. ;) Hugs.

Thanks, everyone. I took an HPT yesterday and the results were negative. A good friend who is a nurse practitioner told me to take another test in a couple of weeks, but that I probably was not pregnant. So...though I would have been fine with a positive result, it certainly would have been unexpected and not something I had planned for!

Thanks for all of your advice and good thoughts. I wish you all the best of luck if you are trying to conceive...and if you're not...may the gods of birth control work for you!!
